Izzy is so underrated. The man has put out tons of solo albums and could give two fucks if anybody listens. To me that's the epitome of Rock 'n Roll. The soul of the original Guns.
Izzy IS GNR. The others are just using the name and cruising on the songs that he was largely responsible for. Slash had a hand. But, Izzy....he was and IS the heart.
It's alot more then fingerprints. He wrote most of the music . People tend to forget that inn terms of song writing slash wrote very little on appetite.
He did that during the Ju Ju Hounds era too. Izzy not having stage presence is a rumour from the GN'R time, because he obviously wasn't happy on stage then.
Aerosmith's strongest part has always been its rhythm guitar. Both Joe Perry and Brad Whitford are great rhythm guitarists (way better than their solo guitar work) and play killer riffs. So when you combine it with Izzy Stradlin, who is one of the best rhythm guitarists of the rock scene, it just can't get better than this.
When Music From.Another Dimension came out, Aerosmith was on a show like Good.Morning America promoting it.only Joe Perry could make it. The difference in sound without the rythym guitar was incredible Whitford brings su h a richness to the sound
izzzzyyyy neeeeds to be at the gnr reunion,it blows smoke literally that hes not involved!such a striking figure, his interaction with tyler is classic!
Seriously, out of all the GnR members, Izzy has aged the best IMO. Axl got fat, Slash and Duff also aged well, Steven got messed up, Matt looks like he suffers from midlife crisis and Gilby grew a mustache, wtf. Izzy on the other hand is classy and stylish as hell. His swag is off the scale. I can only hope to age as gracefully as he does, lol.
I think Izzy sang different lyrics there. He said Steven something, lol. And that's what made Steven laugh. It was Steven who offered to help Izzy get clean. And Izzy finally took him up on the offer. Ironically, a long time before that, I think Izzy used to sell heroin to them.
Truly fuckin epic. A legend walks out on stage to jam with 5 more legends. I would love to have been at this show!! I did catch Aerosmith though when they toured with Run DMC and Kid Rock. So in the encore they obviously played walk this way and Run DMC came out......... which was fucking amazing . Jam Master Jay was murdered only months after the show I was at. I think I saw them Sept 5th 2002. RIP Jam Master Jay !!!!!!!!!!!
Ironically, Izzy's guitar, sounds loud, than if he were playing in a GNR concert, (sorry for my broken english) No one says " turn down the volume of his guitar"
As much as i love izzy coming back to gnr i respect his choice! He did a lot for gnr and i will cherish that forever. Richard fortus is a great replacement btw!
I just wish that GNR could remain like Aerosmith. They grew old, cleaner and wiser putting behind all the addictions and bad memories in the past. It must be nice to see the original line up of GNR sober and equipped with skills that have grown much with their decades of playing.
I would have to guess that Izzy was the biggest lyrical contribution to Appetite for destruction because the later material recorded without him wasn’t as good lyrically.
