"Undercover of the Night" was the lead single from The Rolling Stones 1983 album Undercover. They changed their sound a bit for the song to keep up with the times. Two different music videos were made for the song. The other was filmed in Mexico with Mick Jagger playing a detective on the trail of a kidnapping gang led by Keith Richards. Richards shoots Jagger in the video and MTV rejected it in favor of this version, a rare case of violence losing out to sex in the rock and roll censorship struggle of the eighties.

1983 was an amazing year. In the midst of the height of New Wave & Heavy Metal, you still had bands like Genesis, Yes, and the Rolling Stones putting out phenomenal music.

Jagger said that in this song, he was inspired by the Argentine dictatorship between 1976 to 1983. Well, I am Argentine, and I lived those years in my adolescence. The military made a mess. They kidnapped not only men... also women. And if any were pregnant, they also appropriated the babies. Today in my country marks the 40th anniversary of having recovered democracy... but the economic crisis, inflation of 200% per year projected for this 2023... The chaos in terms of security, the poverty of almost 50% of the population, drug war... The social conflict and cultural decadence is so great, that we can't stand anymore. Hello Afica reacts, the 80's is not my most favorite Rolling Stones decade but this song is good. It's best to hear on a big sound system, the beat goes through your body and the dynamics work great. The guitars come towards you. Nice to see you enjoy it sweet lady, keep up the good work of listening great music.
