Back when I was 10 years old, I was in the hospital for a couple weeks in December 1989-January 1990. When I was released my mom gave me this just before leaving the hospital. I remember playing with it being pushed down the corridors in a wheelchair and then in the car ride home. I haven't thought about this game in many years. Nostalgia is a helluva drug.
Everyone here seemed to get theirs in December 1989 and...yeah, I was no different. Up at 3am, 25 December 1989, having opened it and playing it at full blast, my mum coming in and giving me shit for playing so loud.
No, it added all those bells & whistles to compensate for the fact that the Nintendo Game Boy was ravaging the handheld market and putting LCD games out of business. A Game Boy retailed for $100 back in 1989, and this thing retailed for $75. By the time 1990 rolled around, these things were on clearance at Walmart for 20 bucks...and they still weren't selling.
