After Dark 4.0 - Bad Dog 

They need to bring these back just for nostalgia's sake!

I remember some of the "Bad Dog!", barking, jumping-in-folders, the tearing and other parts I've seen on my old Apple computer. I was a little girl when I had the After Dark 4.0 screensavers.

My childhood summed up. :)

Ah the memories - thanks for posting this video - I was lucky enough to get to program Bad Dog for the After Dark screensaver when I was in my early 20's.. I remember while coding this - we had this little dog (I think a Pug) that would hang out with me my office mate who was working on the Flying Toasters one. Those days were really fun!

Was looking up "You Bet Your Head" and remembered this from my "After Dark" screen saver. Love it!

You guys had to've had a lot of fun creating those screensavers! If they could bring so many people so much joy, it must've been a rockin' job!

Enjoyed the video! Brought back memories of when I had the screensaver under Windows 3.1.

I wish this was available for our new devices! I remember this from fifth grade!!!

@Isinia1979 that's right -- I was there for a few years . I worked with and artist and programmed Bad Dog for Mac/PC- among other things :-)

Made me laugh. I remembered the dog after i heard him bark. What a bad dog! But cute and funny. Love him trying to drag off the smaller window with drawing of dog in it.

That said, this particular screensaver didn't really help much on the burn-in problem.

there needs to be a remake of this but with Simon's Cat :D

IBM Aptiva Computers (2168-Mxx and 2144-xxx Model's) Had Launch Pad and thats the Same Dog, I think his name is Bingo

I wonder if there are any screensavers today that are as entertaining as these were. :)

I'm sure there are millions out there. Problem is, they are of no use as since LCD monitors don't burn in as much.

Just love it but wish l could get a copy to work on Windows 7 :-(

I was able to get After Dark 4.0 to run on my Win7 64 bit OS. DON'T install the XP/NT version in Windows 7 (I tried that version and it refuses to load any modules other then Starry Night). You need to find the Win9x version and run setup in Win98 Compatibility mode. The NT/XP version might run in the 32 bit version of Win7, but I only have the 64 bit version, so can't tell you if the NT version would work correctly in Win7 x86. The trick to getting the screensaver you want to run is to manually set which screen saver to start in the registry. (trying to go to the After Dark settings pane would just bring you to the resolutions pane in Windows 7.) I got "Marbles" to work. But Bad Dog crashes when it attempts to start and as expected none of the old 16-bit era screensavers would start. (would show the usual Starry Night with the "Unable to load module" message scrolling on top) Bad Dog is the one screen saver I couldn't get to work in Win7. Such a disappointment. If someone knows a fix for that particular screensaver, let me know! I really want this back.

I remember thinking this was the funnies thing in the world as a kid, especially when he spun on his ass.

Just wasted 10 minutes of my life watching a dog destroy a computer screen. Time well spent? I think yes. xD

Thats a question I wondered myself but oh well.. At least they got the dog to get his head stuck in the Recycling Bin in Windows. lol

if someone can find me a good download link, I think I can make it work (I have Windows 10, but if I get it to run on 10, it should run on 7 and 8 too)
