To fix the weird plane angles you have to edit their 3D rotation in After effects before you put it into maya... After effects if pretty good with keeping the tracking consistent but it doesn't guess the actual orientation of geometry in your footage very well, so you have to mess around with it
Solids should effectively go back and forth between maya and afx as a plane equally proportioned to the scale/size of the plane.. happy to take a gander. Thanks chris
I have successfully synced AE with Maya and now I'm struggling with the rotation/coordinates thing. But it looks promising. Is there a solid way to change the angles before connecting, or should I just mess and try random values? if the planes are not perfectly perpendicular to the original Maya XYZ, I will suffer importing objects from my target Maya animated objects...
Hello! Thanks for doing these videos, quick problem solve question. Maya produces a "fatal error" on me and crashes despite getting the good handshake initially as well as the green tick mark when dragging the camera and a solid from AE. Have you experienced anything like this yet? I'm using both 2018 AE and Maya, thought that would eliminate some glitches. Thanks again for the work you're doing and for any feedback you might have! Slainte!
which versions of maya and after effects are you using? im using maya 2019 and after effects cc 2018. (randomly it could be maya 2018 causing the issue)... if that's the case there may be a service pack for 2018 available to fix any issues? worth a try. Try those.. hopefully will help. if not get back in touch and maybe send the files over and i can take a closer look. cheers Chris
