Looks great! Basically the only reason I bought a XLT was because I wanted a center console. I may have went with the STX if I had thought of doing this!
Thanks! Yeah, I was in the same boat to be quite honest. But when I ordered my 2019, i could not order an XLT with vinyl, and there were 1000 less rebates on the XLT. To get katzkin, and xlt, and console it was going to be a $6-7000 upgrade. I still plan/hope to do a factory takeoff console in this truck, but been running this setup 2 years now, so it's not as important as it once was :). Going to cost like $1500 to do that when i find a good used donor.
Looks great! Questions…do you have access to the screws from inside the console? If so, would it have been easier with carriage bolts? Does it rattle? Have you addressed the exposed area? Update video?
It does not rattle. I did actually replace the lag bolts with carriage bolts. I added split lock washers as well. did all this 2 years ago or more and it hasn't loosened up. The truck is a 19 and I installed this within 6 months of purchasing so it's been a solid setup for 4-5 years. I did not address the exposed area. Although I do have some extra leftover grey/black boat carpet that I may attach.
Would it have bolted straight to the floor without the wood? I have a 2018 F150 and looking to do this for more storage. I don't really want to spend 1000 plus for the current/correct console
