I live in Ireland and I struggle to grow nice exotic plants outside. It's something I am so envious about living in a nice spot in The USA. My agapanthus and lupins have it tough here 😢

I love the Twister, my neighbor has that one and it is gorgeous! That Carolina Wren was really wanting everyone to hear him! Your agapanthus are beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for watching and yes the the bird was really talking. Usually it’s the boats on the lake that make the noise! Thank you for commenting.

The care is really quiet easy. Fertilize in the spring and cut back the flower scapes after blooming. Please let me know if you have a specific question. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

And looking for your amazing twister.. And know I want your was it blue globe? well next month my husband is going to kill me with all the bulbs and plants I bought. 😬 well it could be shoes ( got 3 pair from Venus...on sale🙃

Last year was a big year for Twister. I saw it every where. Another of my very favorites is Neverland. It is a variegated leaf and very narrow leaf with a short bloom. More suitable for a little shade. Glad to hear from another Agapanthus lover. They are awesome.

Wow the twisters are cool. I’ve been looking for some blue Peter Pan variety but have only found the full size Blue Lilly of the Nile at Woodley’s in NE Columbia.

They African Lilly IS NOT DEER RESISTANT IN PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fl. In my backyard they grow Beautiful. Out front the Deer ate them, to the point I can’t even tell where I planted them. Anyone who plant African lilies out front they are deer toast. Love the deer but just can’t plant many flowers they won’t eat. ❤❤❤

Oh no! So sorry to hear that. Thank goodness they leave mine alone I’ve heard that the deer have preferences they vary by region so I guess that’s at play.

I’m in zone 6a. What should I do with this plant in winter ??
@sweetcarolinagardening4364
@sweetcarolinagardening4364 Год назад
You would have to dig and bring inside. Or plant in a pot that you bring inside. I don't have any experience with that since I am in zone 8 and most of plants are left in the ground all year. Good Luck!

I love the first one, Lily of the Nile variety. Live in zone 8B, weak sunlight during Oct to March, but nice, mild summer in our state. I am just wondering can I get enough blooms by planting it on East side? not sure if it depends on the past year's sunlight or the Spring and Summer sunlight for blooming? Also, which month do all the leaves die back to ground?
@sweetcarolinagardening4364
@sweetcarolinagardening4364 3 года назад
Hey Angela. I am also 8b extremely hot summers. The leaves in the traditional Lily of the Nile don’t really die back much. Just a few leaves in the bottom turn yellow during the winter for me here. Of course if we had a really cold snap they might die back a little. I noticed some of my varieties die back a little more. “Twister” died back more but they are currently smaller plants than the others. I just love them all! Thanks for the comment.

@@sweetcarolinagardening4364 thank you for you info. And " lily of the Nile " is a common name of Agapanthus, right? So, what is the special variety name of the first tall one? "Midnight Blue"?
@sweetcarolinagardening4364
@sweetcarolinagardening4364 3 года назад
@@angelaa7616 You know that is an interesting question. These were put in by the landscaper and I have seen lots of times at nursery just labeled "Agapanthus Africanus" I have come to believe that that is the name of the blue variety one that is traditionally used in the landscaping. www.gardenia.net/plant/agapanthus-africanus Shows a picture of what mine look like and they call it Agapanthus Africanus as well. I have bought more varieties and hope to do a follow up when some bloom this summer. They are currently budded up and it won't be long.

I just received Agapanthus in the mail from an Etsy shop. I just went back and looked and there was specific variety name. I’m in 7B, 40 minutes west of Charlotte NC. I assumed I would have to take mine in as the temperatures get cold in the fall. Are you in a warmer area of the Carolinas? I would love to be able to leave mine in the ground too!!!

Many nurseries or landscapers can get you the blue called Lily of the Nile. I picked up some of mine at a box store and local nurseries. I have ordered some from online sources as well. Online, is not the best value, but if you can't find them any where else it would be a good way. They are bulbs, so they are typically bought in bulb form or container. When I ordered online they came in four inch containers with soil. Thanks so much for the question and I sure hope you find some for your garden!

Here in zone 8B this variety stays evergreen with a little that dies at the base. Just clean them up in the spring. Thanks for your question.

@sweetcarolinagardening4364

They can survive in shade but won’t bloom as well or grow as fast. They like full sun.
