I like a bit of both as far as views go, I think you're current approach is Bang on. I guess a good rule to follow would be to only show the player view when theres a break in the action, so we don't miss anything important but still get get player perspective.

Definitely continue how you're going with the FOW - helps us see how the player is responding to the information they have. Spot on

I love swapping between the fog of war, just keep doing what your doing!

I like your fog-of-war transition. Grubby often goes even further and casts almost solely from one players perspective, so as to maintain that information-gap that real players have to deal with !

No fog of war 80ish% of the time. The other 20% should be situational to see if they will scout something or to show how a player is missing something that we can see.

Would be interesting to see team games, some 2v2's - especially in competitive. It would really open up the dynamic. these 1v1s are just the same routines with little or no come back ability most of the time. Most casual players also are playing team games. It is odd to me that most of these rts leagues are only 1v1.

I’ve always thought that it doesn’t make sense that Network of Castles applies to any defensive English building anywhere on the map. Maybe have it only apply to defensive structures within the English TC’s influence, which would make it a proper defensive bonus

Man I wish the horsemen started at 10 damage and had the same increment as they get upgraded +3 from the blacksmith ... it's such a decent unit that is neglected after Feudal (even in feudal most times) ... with the exception of dark age horse men having less attack than normal to keep the mongols in check

Less fog of war is better. But switch to it for some situations like scouting or ambush. Do 80% to 90% no fog of war, 10% fog of war. Right now, you do it 50-50.

One thing I don’t like about this game is that most of the time you know who’s gonna win pretty early and then you just watch how one player keeps getting ahead while second one keeps falling behind.

I would prefer if you keep NO fog of war at all only around 20% of the time. The rest should be WITH FoW from either side (preferably switch between players here and there with a hotkey). It is very important to see what other players see from their perspective as it is huge part of the gameplay and decision making process for them.

I have no problems with the way you use fog of war. Don't change a thing.

I think towers need to be nerfed a tad, maybe network of castles bonus under outposts need to be nerfed as well (bonus as is currently is fine or can even be buffed a tad under keeps and TCs but nerf the network bonus when it comes to outpost). I don't think the English as a civ need a net nerf, so maybe buff something else (not sure what but something geared more towards Castle Age and beyond). At the very least nerf outpost in general as I don't think OP tower rushing is good for an RTS, coming from WC3 where Human tower rushes were very oppressive certain patches. Tower rushing should be be something that can catch someone unprepared by surprise but should be just as easy skill wise to stop as it is to execute IF it's scouted out. My issue with OP tower rushing in RTS is that the execution of the rush often requires less skill than it does to hold against said rush. One thought I had which would help the wall situation as well. Don't let villagers build towers or walls while being attacked. If you to put up an offensive outpost and the scout sees this and attacks the villager the scout stops the villager being hit from putting up that outpost. Just a thought.

Turning the FoW off and on for the purposes of explaining a player's tactics seems to be a good idea.

Goddamn reddit posts distracting Drongo. You could turn off FoW slightly more frequently, but I think its great the way you do it now. I honestly wouldn't be watching or even playing if it wasn't for your casting skills. Reddit always finds something to complain about.
