I dunno about different (it's pretty much the plot of District 9) but I'm still excited to see how the race functions.

Well the Prawn's hive mind wasn't forcibly taken from them by another race from what I recall more so that all the higher-ups in the hive mind died at some point before the ship reached Earth. And I did say different not unique, you have to agree that something like 95% of all insectoid races in SF do have a hive mind of some sort.

If you like this game's look, have a look into the medevil game that Triumph had made named age of wonders 3, its is really good

Nah, not really. One of the NPC factions you can deal with is a group of immortal cyborgs descending from the Union's ruling caste... and they are total dicks.

I like it when humanity isn't good just because it's humanity in lore. We're actually quite prone to being warlike and not caring about those different from us. So if we were ever to become a spacefaring species and find other races we'd probably attack them and enslave them. That or we'd kill them all as "we can't understand their language so they must be lesser then us".

More than likely it would be the aliens beating us... because wed be too busy fighting each other on everything to do anything about it...

To be fair, they were originally bound in a hive mind that it sounds like the Star Union took control of, and you can’t exactly have a lot of personality in a hive mind so it’s possible the Star Union simply assumes they were taking control of a race of animals to use as pack mules and cheap animal labor and they only realized the level of sentience the Kirko has after the hive mind broke. It would be like if the Empire from Warhammer managed to take control of a Tyranid hivemind. I’m not really sure if you call that “enslavement” since enslavement is suppressing something’s free will and not having a free will to begin with is kinda the point of hiveminds

@@Erligan The plants seem like they'll be one of the unplayable native races you can absorb through doing quests or war so as to gain access to their units. Like Dragons, Giants and faries from Age of Wonders 3.

Stellaris too, but that one's too far over my head. Like EUIV in space. Just a brutal learning curve and info overload. Maybe someday I'll get my head around it

I would guess that unit tier is separate from tech tier? Like. the amount of research required is VIII but the actual unit it allows you to build is tier 'III where IV is the theoretical highest

read the comments. People seem to like it. Look at the like/dislike ratio. Again, people seem to like it. If you don't doesn't mean nobody does. You are not special.

The idea of a formerly hive minded race forced to not be a hive mind anymore is actually pretty baller.

I find basic ideas of the races you mentoned to be too bland. I like races with rich backstories. So, to each his own :).

I prefer races with some actual lore. Also nothing about 40k makes sense, it's a world full of crazy shit, space magic and robot priests. Even the guard don't make much sense if you delve into their lore, and I say this as a Guard player.

Im not trying to tell, that the korgi(its better this way) race is full of shit, or wh40k chaosmarines feed filters. I believe, that posthivemind species are too made up, interesting for too specific people. Its too much nerd here.
