Agents of SHIELD: Family | REACTION 

Agents of shield is my favourite show of all time. I watched from the beginning and while a lot of people gave up in the early eps i didn't, and i will always be thankful for that.

For those who don't follow the show or the Marvel movies, in the movie Captain America:The Winter Soldier shield falls apart because it's revealed that Hydra shields oldest enemy has been placing agents inside shield to take over. All shield agents are declared international fugitives if they don't turn themselves over to the government. A small core group of shield agents from the TV show decided to live as criminals but continue to do shields work from the shadows.

Just to let you know Coulson was brought back to life after the first Avengers movie that's when this show starts

By the way, for the questions: 1) The movies like to ignore Agents of SHIELD, so while Agents of SHIELD sometimes acknowledges the movies, there's just random excuses as to why the avengers aren't there :/. And 2) some big spoilers ahead!! Coulson made a deal with "the devil" to defeat one of their enemies, but the price was that it burned through the alien stuff that has been keeping him alive since just after the original Avengers, when he died. After that, he slowly started to waste away and didn't tell people till it got bad. More stuff happens after that, but this only goes till Season 5, so that's all I'll say ;)

Basically, what Marvel is doing now with the Disney+ shows was always intended to be the plan with AOS back phases 1 & 2. So back in the day, Kevin Feige worked directly under Ike Perlmutter (then the head of ABC, Marvel Comics, and Marvel TV) but the two famously didn't get along. Feige was not a fan of bringing back Phil Coulson and making him the star of AOS. As the head of Marvel comics. After the many tie-ins to Captain America Civil War happened and Feige made it clear that he hated reporting to someone else to get decisions passed, complained to Bob Igor (then Disney CEO and Board Chairman) who agreed to make Marvel studios operate separately from Marvel comics/tv and ABC. So now all Kevin Feige had to report to Allen Horn (then chairman of Walt Disney Studios-i.e., the division in charge of all theatrical verticles-Lucas Film, Pixar, Disney Animation, and now marvel studios). After Age of Ultron, Feige no longer clued in Marvel tv on movie plots and stopped allowing his talent to move between film and tv. Ike Perlmutter wasn't too keen on that, so he went and started several projects (such as Inhumans) for Marvel tv, which was initially supposed to be MCU titles. But in this game of chicken, Perlmutter lost, because he refused to put any Marvel tv characters in the MCU and dropped the Inhumans movie (which was a double blow, because Marvel comics had gone full-in on the Inhumans, sidelining the Avengers and X-Men in the process). Eventually, due to Kevin Feige's "frustration" with working with Perlmutter, Disney took Feige's side (because the MCU was way more profitable than Marvel Comics at this point) and restructured the company giving Kevin Feige full control over all of Marvel (comics, tv, and marvel studios). The show went on hiatus for the season, leaving many people asked about the many tie-in events of the upcoming Infinity War. When the show came back, suddenly the characters escaped the snap because they got abducted by time-traveling aliens. In fact, they hopped timelines multiple times. By the time they returned to the present, their present and the timeline changed, effectively severing AOS from the MCU. When people asked Marvel Studios about the decision, they said they were never MCU canon to begin it. When asked how Kevin Feige would explain the shared actors and past tie-ins between AOS, Agent Carter, and the MCU, he basically implied that the two shows share an alternate timeline which was coincidentally similar circumstances to the MCU. Even the comics, which used to advertise AOS to readers, stopped doing so under Kevin Feige. It was so petty.

Agents of shield are human, but it's what Disney Marvel plus should have been. The emotional connection the show has to the fan base. We were disappointed it ended

While the Avengers themselves never show up, other characters do. Heroes: Nick Fury (Sam jackson), Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), Lady Sif of Asgard (Jaimie Alexander) is a big guest start a couple of times (as in she's in the whole episode not just a cameo), some of the background SHIELD agents from Avengers and Captain America Civil War actually get names in this series. Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwel) had several cameos in the earlier seasons and her tv show (Agent Carter) was directly referenced several times in the later seasons; an Agent Carter character (same contuity) was even a main character in season 7. Some of the members of the Howling Commandoes from Captain America's 1st movie had flashback cameos. President Ellis (William Sadler) was president iof the US in in AOS, Iron Man 3, the Avengers, and Age of Ultron. Villains: Jasper Sitwell (Maximiliano Hernández) he's in the Avengers movies, but is more popualrly known for being the guy tagginign alongside Phil Coulsin in the phase 1 marvel studios shorts, then he had his huge hail hydra reveal in CA Winter Soldier (where he was killed). Doctor List (Henry Goodman) was baron Von Stucker's second in command, debuted in CA Winter Soldier, then had multiple apperances in AOS, then appeared again in Age of Ultron (which other's have mentioned has a big MCU tie-in via SHIELD because of Theta Protocol i.e., rebuilding a Helicarrier). Gideon Malick (powers Booth) was a member of the world security council, was outed as being Hydra in CA Winter Soldier, and was an overarching villain for AOS for season 3 until the actual big bad killed him.

Best day for this reaction, I've just spent the weekend watching old SHIELD episodes and edits, just because I miss the show so much!! Best Marvel show, and I've seen them all but SHIELD has something special, 1rst season is just meh, but then.... Omg!!!

Agents of SHIELD has some of my favourite edits. Fantastic edits for a fantastic show! One of SHIELDs strongest suit is the found family dynamic and this edit showed it brilliantly. For the timeline question, Agents Of Shield starts before Winter Soldier. The first season referenced Thor: The Dark World and Winter Soldier happens around the early seasons. The show sticks quite closely to MCU canon and timeline, but starts more strongly disconnecting as the show progresses. The final seasons take place around Infinity War, but the show gets around it and doesn't really reference main MCU canon anymore at that point. The show also references the show Agent Carter quite a few times

1) Where Are the Avengers? They are around. Season 1 deals with in-house HYDRA business off of the collapse of SHIELD during Winter Soldier. The Avengers aren't necessary. In season 2, the Coulson's rebuilt secret SHIELD are doing missions and gathering intel for the Avengers. They basically gathered intel and Coulson had a secret program to basically turn one of the CA: Winter Soldier helicarriers into a life raft. The intel pass to Maria Hill is information that led to the Avengers attack on HYDRA's compound in Age of Ultron. At the end, the helicarrier is loaned to Fury from Coulson to rescue the Sokovians. In season 3, Civil War takes place and thus the Sokovia Accords are in effect. Some are on the raft before they become fugitives. Thor and Hulk are off-world. The Avengers are practically broken up until Infinity War. Season 4 involves SHIELD, the U.S. Army, and another mystical character to take down its big bad. The Avengers are still broken up. Season 5 has the Avengers pre-occupied with Thanos during Infinity War. Season 6 is post-Snap and here are no Avengers that were not snapped that can help. Tony is depressed then goes to start a family. Barton is terrorizing Japan. Nat is crying into her PB&J sandwich and filling her vest pockets with bread crumbs. Carol is off-world. Thor is depressed and in hiding. Lang might be stuck in the quantum realm. Season 7 takes place in the past, so there are Avengers around. And that's the end. The show did overtly tie-in at the beginning, but the characters and the team grew into a force of their own. By the end, they really didn't need the Avengers. 2) What time frame is the show set in? It begins months after Coulson's death as his resurrection story is part of the season long plot of the first season. It ends during Endgame and during the period of the Snap. In universe years is 2013-2019 with a 1 year leap to 2020 in the final team scene. 3) What affected Coulson? In season 1, we learn Fury had developed a secret program to harvest an alien corpse for medicinal purposes. One of the purposes was to revive a fallen Avenger. This was called Project T.A.H.I.T.I.. The secret project is a key plot point in season 1, with the test subjects of the program being a key plot point to season 2, and Coulson's mortality in season 5. If you are interested, check out episodes 1, 5, 10, then 14 for that story. If you check out the show, the first 9 episodes have its ups and downs (creative differences with ABC along with heavy restrictions from Marvel Studios), but it really finds its stride around the 10th episode where the generic characters who have been given some development get put through a multiple season wringer.

I watched the first 3 seasons but then life disrupted a lot of stuff and I just never went back to this show. Maybe it's time to revisit

Agents of Shield is amazing. My favourite show alongside Persons of Interest, Legion and Mr Robot. The Disney+ shows absolutely suck in comparison. Get past episode 10 and everything will be speeding up. The twists, the turns, the amazing acting (as you saw some of it). You just get so attached to the characters.

Marvel movies are making between 800 to a billion dollars a movie. Counting the pandemic numbers to bolster your theory is disingenuous at best. I can respect your feelings about being tired of the releases, but your old enough to be able to separate your personal feelings and observable reality.🤷🏾‍♂️
