The AGM-158 JASSM (Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile) is A Large, Stealthy Long-Range Missile developed by Lockheed Martin for the United States Armed Forces. It is a large, stealthy long-range weapon with a 450-kg armor piercing warhead. It completed testing and entered service with the U.S. Air Force in 2009, and has entered foreign service in Australia, Finland, and Poland as of 2014. An extended range version of the missile, the AGM-158B JASSM-ER (Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile-Extended Range), entered service in 2014. By September 2016, Lockheed Martin had delivered 2,000 total JASSMs comprising both variants to the USAF

The AGM-158B has a range of 585 miles and the AGM-158B2 has a range of 1200 miles when it goes into production. This thing is a beast. There is an anti ship version of the B, but the extra sensors and sech reduce the range to about 350 miles. They can also carry the HiJENKS EMP warhead when that is out. It is like the CHAMP but smaller so it will fit in these smaller cruise missiles. The B-2 can hold 24 of these missiles each, so they could have launched 48 total in this attack if they had wanted to. Do to its size though the AGM-158 can also fit on an F-15, F16, F/A-18 and even externally on the F-22 and F-35 as well as the B-1, B-2, B-21, and B-52. They also have a box called the Rapid Dragon that can be air dropped from a C-130 that can hold 6 of these missiles or 9 missiles in the C-17 version. This needs no modifications to the craft and is simply air-deployed from the back of the plane like normal. The missile then release and head to their individual targets.

@Bitchslapper316
@Bitchslapper316 Год назад
@@alirazi3028 Yeah short range defense systems can take them down pretty easily, even hand held things like stingers can. The thing is they have to know they are coming so if they don't detect the launch or see them on long range radar the reaction time plays the biggest role. Between detection time and identification it's often to late. They generally don't leave these systems active on auto because they would be shooting down their own aircraft and missiles. One example is during the gulf war a cruise missile was shot at the U.S.S Missouri and the Missouri started clouding the air with flak. One of the supporting destroyers had left it's phalanx on auto and it started spraying the flak in the air with bullets causing a bunch of hot depleted uranium to rain down on the decks of the Missouri.
@Sinclair_USMC
@Sinclair_USMC Год назад
@@John-hu9qg Doubtful, considering they need western chips to make the Kalibr function. Even at 30 years old, with all the upgrades like 2 way data link, automated target tracking, loitering, 1000+ mile range and the ability to carry a W80 nucler warhead I would consider the old tomahawk a serious threat. Nowadays not being so stealthy can be used as an advantage by being bait with a bite. Get the enemy to focus on what they can barely see and use a 2nd total stealth group that's much closer and remaining unseen to target sites that light up to start tracking the barely seen 1st group which then can continue on with less resistance after the 2nd total stealth group takes out the active air defenses.
