Josh you never handle that aeriator from behind it. It nearly rolled on to your legs just in the demo. Also it's lethall just parked. What I did was put a square tubing frame and mesh cage over it. I noticed in your videos your very cavalier about safety around your implements. There is a reason farming is one of the most dangerous occupations. Safety preceeds all else.

Such a cool implement. Thanks for sharing the information on it. I will be looking at one for my pastures. I did notice in the video that your top link was to short, which could put the lift arms in a bind and cause some damage. Just lengthen the top link so the side rails of the frame where the roller bearings are, are level, not tipped down at the front. Just a tip from someone that's been there, done that and destroyed a tractors hydraulic rock shaft.

Bolt on forks look like a good way to bend a bucket to me you are also a lot farther out from your pivot point on your front end loader meaning the leverage prevents you from picking up nearly as much as a dedicated fork mast if you have a quick attach bucket its no problem at all swapping and takes virtually no time
@grwolf272

@stonyridgefarm , I’ll speak for your bearings , top link n 3pt. “ please pick us up when using ground engaging tools n well last you a long long time. “ we set up everything to be pulled straight. Each disc blade or aerator tooth along with its frame get twisted pretty good. That’s the beauty of 3pt is we can pick it up. Any pull type with lift should be raised as well when turning. A lot of leverage cranking a rear gang of discs. Bigger tractors won’t sweat this extra stress til you see a draft arm trashed. Also lift those 3 pt arms when using any pto n lock them up. Bad day mowing n making a turn after they slack out. Just my 2 cents. Not my place to tell another man how to farm his land but I enjoy helping,

I have my inpliements on heavy pallets with castors. Converted a old corn crib into a "storage barn" by adding a concrete floor. Back up to the door, roll what you need over to it and hook it up. Wheeled pallets will allow you "wiggle" it right into place easly! Getting to old to fight with stuff anymore! 😉

Always use it after it's rained and dried out just a bit, also, always lift it off the ground when making any turn, not just sharp ones. I'm guessing you noticed how much harder the tractor is to steer when you don't lift the aerator. It's very hard on the lower lift arms of the tractor to turn without lifting the aerator, I broke one of the attachment points for the turnbuckle on one arm not lifting my aerator before turning. Just a heads up, keep up the great videos, I like them.

Try parking/ storing/ unhitching the broadcast spreader on a few sturdy pallets. Also works well for some brush hog and other 3pt implements. We park our brush hog on 2 large round logs- makes on/off easier. Dont fall for the gimmick of a quick hitch- they are great for certain heavy tillage and some particular items on dead-flat ground. Mostly just a gimmick by skinny little wimps with 20hp utility yard tractors who think they're saving time hook ing up stuff in their paved garage in the suburbs
@46rambo49

I was Yelling at the screen, "it's going to roll, watch your shins" when you were hooking up. we have wedge blocks for all implements, and pallets to set stuff like the broadcast spreader on, got them from a local hardware from the dumpster, they are plastic, and aerators bounce on our soil, we use a lot of Revive to help with water retention and we have a compost pile the size of a semi truck. if you want more weight in it use beet juice. thanks for the fun

Josh, you could build up soil a little more by going behind aerator spreading thin layer of compost or possibly having chicken litter spread behind it. That could fall into aerator grooves to add organic matter to your poor topsoil. Good luck with it. Tomg

2 things off the top of my head. Use some scrap materials and build some landing gear for that spreader. Look into deep soil aeration in patches that may not see any or very little improvement from just a roller type aerator. Deep soil aeration will also help with areas that hold water longer than they should. Hard pan that you can't see is a booger.

Deer turds can be full of minerals, as they browse through the wooods and eat plants from the forest floor gorwing from the brok down leaves from trees which can pull minerals from deep in the earth, alfalfa also roots deep and pulls minerals from as deep down as 18 feet.
