Ahmed Best really doesn't deserve the hate he gets for playing Jar Jar

Disney should make things right with Ahmed and give him a new role in one of the thousand new Star Wars shows

I still want to believe Jar Jar really was the key to everything and was originally a true Lord of the Sith, with a mastery of fooling everyone, even Palpatine.

This man deserves tons of respect.

Here’s a not fun fact: Ahmed Best almost killed himself after the hate from his performance as Jar Jar, I’m so happy that he didn’t do it.

Ahmed deserved so much better. It's disgusting how the dislike for Jar Jar spread to dislike for Ahmed. Jar Jar didn't deserve the hate, and Ahmed sure didn't either. I'm very pleased that Disney's purchase of SW helped many fans realize that Jar Jar is actually a great character. Ahmed, thank you for playing one of my favorite (honestly) SW characters!

People should learn to separate the actor from the performance. That’s the major takeaway from Ahmed Best and Jar-Jar.

To be honest, I don't even find Jar Jar Binks that bad. Yeah, it was obviously targeted towards kids and not adults, but that worked as I loved him as a child. And now that I am older I more just love the memes the character has made and darth jar jar of which is the strongest character in the star wars universe.

Despite his clumsy, comic relief nature, Jar Jar Binks is quite a remarkable character. George Lucas himself said that Jar Jar Binks is his favorite character.

Remember, Jar Jar was key to implementing the clone army in the GAR. Without Jar Jar, we wouldn't get to know Rex, Cody, Fives, etc.

You can see in Ahmed's face when he gets cheered that he is remembering the pain he went through. All that hate towards the prequels from OT fans. Kinda like how we do on the sequel saga now...

When I was a kid I loved jar jar I used to buy his toys and everything. It gets me so mad hearing people say that he ruined the prequels when he was made to please a younger audience like me.

I was having a bad day today... then I saw Ahmed's face at 1:35, taking in the love and admiration from this crowd and starting to tear up. Now I'm happy.

I never knew that Jar Jar was supposed to be a Buster Keaton-style character, but now that I know EVERYTHING makes so much more sense now! I freaking LOVE Buster Keaton, and the majority of the time his characters are screw-ups/pathetic/sad and getting into the most unfortunate physical circumstances, being thrown around all over the place and just _trying his best,_ and that IS Jar Jar Binks. In that way, it really works.

Theory, the way I see it, Star Wars isn't the redemptive story of the Skywalkers, it was the accountancy of C3P0 and R2D2 being dragged around battles by their owners. After all, they are the only characters in all of the Skywalker Saga movies

Jar Jar Binks was fucking hilarious if you were a kid!

Old school original Star Wars fan here and I loved TPM and enjoyed Ahmed Best's performance. I was hoping he would be in the other two films to flesh out his character. He made the first film warm and fun and he represented the Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton of classic films. This was the "first" film so there are plenty of nods to very old movies, even with the tone of the music and the brightness of color that resembles Robin Hood and other adventure films of the early era. I'll tell you, after witnessing the abominations that are the Disney sequels, Jar Jar as a character, in hindsight, looks pretty damn good. Ahmed Best is such an obvious talent. I hope he's loving life because he brought a lot of joy to lots of people.

While I'm not a huge fan of Jar-Jar, Ahmed seems like a wholesome dude and does not deserve the hate he's been given. I'm glad he's back and I hope he's given some more love from Disney and Star Wars in the future. It's not to late to redeem Jar-Jar.

I stand by my childhood appreciation for Jar Jar, I didn't care that he wasn't cute, I thought he was funny and somewhat charming and to a lesser extent I still think that, Jar Jar is an idiot, but he's also a direct allegory for the viewer if we existed inside Star Wars, we wouldn't be awesome, powerful Jedi, we would be absolute clowns who would have no idea what's going on or how to handle any situation. Episode 1 was pretty damn boring for most of its runtime, Jar Jar at least livened that up a bit.

Now that they're doing a lot of non-canon stuff, I really hope they give Ahmed an entire short movie or series about Darth Jar Jar. Let him REALLY lean into the acting that I think we all know he's capable of. Give him a role where he really gets to counter-balance the comic relief. A serious sith lord in disguise.

I’m really happy to see Ahmed Best and Jar Jar Binks get the love and respect he should’ve got when TPM came out and awesome movie love live the Prequels loved them when they came out I was growing up as a kid and nothing has changed even now I adore these movies as much as the OG Trilogy.

I was 11 when Ep1 came out, I thought of Jar Jar as that guy amongst your friends who has a good heart and always tries to do the right thing, whilst at the same time being ridiculously (and hilariously) silly and sometimes stupid whilst doing it. He gave me quite a few laughs when I watched the movie when it was released. Glad Mr. Best managed to pull through!

I like Jar Jar more than C-3PO tbh. The Phantom Menace is my 3rd or 4th favorite Star Wars movie. I absolutely love it.

Jar Jar fits the world of TPM and SW perfectly. Just like the Ewoks or giant walking carpets do. He was supposed to be clumsy and him stepping into the goo is exactly what you’d expect from his character. Many people still don’t get it, some never will.
