As Phantom Menace was my introduction to this incredible franchise when I was 6 yo, Jar Jar was actually the first character that I liked and truly, seeing Ahmed there happy and quite overwhelmed brought a tear :,)
I'm just glad to see him received so positively! He's endured enough, and it's beyond time he's able to actually enjoy his place in the Star Wars Universe. 👍
History will judge him well, which has already begun. He's left a much more profound mark, or, "ripple," than most, certainly more of a legacy than I have lol
@@brettquimby3274 I definitely don't think Rose is the worst Star Wars character ever. Sure she didn't really add much, but there are much worse character lol
@@SwimmingRobotI've heard some say that L3-37 from Solo: A Star Wars Story is even worse than Jar Jar or Rose. Having seen Solo, I didn't think she was as bad as either of them because she didn't get as much screen time as they did, but I certainly understood why so many disliked her so much.
Exactly, we should turn our attention to the person that made rose a star wars character. As much as i wish rose died in the last jedi, i would neber wish for the actress to get hurt.
I was 9 when it released. I didn’t see it at the time why people disliked the character so much but I understood as I got older and re-watched the movie as an adult. I still don’t hate the character and will never understand how people can send someone else hatred over a poorly-written movie character
bayushizero he brings goofiness but that’s how he’s written. At the end of the movie he brings the Gungans and the Naboo together, so don’t say he’s poorly-written, he’s actually very important to the plot and not just a sidekick character
big weld I saw episode 1 when I was 6 years old and absolutely laughed my head off as a kid. Growing up I learned that people didn’t like him... but I always have and always will love him lol
I’m glad everything’s worked out for Ahmed Best. I get why fans had their problems with his character, the prequels, 7, 8, the Disney era etc. I’ll admit I’m one of them (not the online attackers) but that’s no excuse for what he, Jake Lloyd, Hayden Christensen, Kelly Marie Tran and everybody else has had to go through. End of the day they are just movies that led to plenty of great SW comics, novels, video games etc and some of us had never even heard of Star Wars before TPM which introduced me to the franchise. The Force will be with you Ahmed. Always.
I’ll be 21 this summer. Growing up w the prequels, never once hated jar jar. Funny how the fans that grow up w their own trilogies have those same kinds of feelings
Someone commented below, "What!? People are actually looking back with nostalgia for Jar Jar?" Uh, No. People look back with appreciation on a Man who was forced to overcome serious emotional and psychological trauma and LASTING damage from the amount of BULLYING he's had to endure!
yeah and some people just like jar jar. I mean, most people my age are prequel kids, grew up mostly watching the prequels. Ofcourse people are nostalgic for jar jar
@Santiago Montero Yes! Like my kids who all grew up having that film as their first Star Wars experience, they never understood what all the negativity was all about and now, as the "primary demographic," they want to defend what they love!
The crowd is amazing. I hated how people made fun of the actor, he only did his part. Im so glad he’s this happy now, when I was a kid I actually thought Jar Jar was funny 😄
@@TheFunkyJawa I have about 20 Hot Toys SW figures. I wish I could get more but each one sets me back at least 350 AUSD. Palpatine on throne was 500 but l HAD to own that no matter the cost.
I'm currently 18 and I've watched star wars since I can remember. I remember watching the phantom menace on my vhs in my room when I was like 4 or 5 and I absolutely loved Jar Jar then and I still do.
This man has been through so much because of the character he played, he deserves no hate. Jar jar should of never been a character but we should never blame this man for jar jar
Honestly, Jar Jar never bothered me, he still doesn't. I've always been capable of watching his goofy antics with a straight face. And you gotta admit, he does get his moments here and there. Good to see Ahmed doing well for himself these days.
I'll be the first to admit that I wasn't a huge Jar Jar fan but the abuse Ahmed received was disgusting. It's really heartwarming to see the fans recognise the man regardless of how they feel about the character and show him so much love. You can tell that he was overwhelmed by the positive reception. Both he and Kelly deserved the reception they received at Celebration and is a wonderful reminder that genuine Star Wars fans are some of the best in the world.
Its so nice to see Ahmed finally get the love and recognition he so deserved! He really comes across as a sweet and wonderful guy, and I'm glad to see that he still loves doing what he did 20 years ago. I've always liked Jar Jar and really feel he's the kind of friend we all want to have; someone who will always stand there by you no matter what.
I was 10 when Phantom Menace came out. My first time ever seeing Star Wars. From that day on I became a Star Wars fan for life. Now I am 30 & still love all those prequel movies from my childhood. Glad to see Jar Jar (Ahmed) made it to celebration!
Kaerim Arturo Cisneros Soto yeah but it always takes around 2-3 years to make a movie ...soooo.... yeah definitely was making lord of the rings in pre production around 98 or 99
Kelleran Beq or "The Sabered Hand" has now become my new favorite Jedi! What an absolute legend this man is. He deserves continued applause for his contribution to the SW universe.
I've always said no matter what your feelings on the CHARACTER, you never blame the actors. They're just doing what they're told. So glad the fans finally came around to embracing him no matter how they feel about Jar Jar.
I'm so glad to see Ahmed get such love & respect. This incredible man NEVER deserved to be made to feel as he did. Hating Jar-Jar became a meme until the sequel trilogy gave everyone so much more to hate, but just like the Ewoks, Jar-Jar is now true Star Wars.
After everything this man has been through, I am SO SO happy to see him finally get the love and recognition he deserves. This fandom can be so toxic and we need to be better.
The part where he talks about Jar Jar always being there for everyone is truly incredible and a reflection to the type of person Ahmed Best is. A truly amazing man.
It’s amazing how much of Jar Jar can be heard in his voice. Hats off to an incredible actor and performer who created a memorable character, memes and all!
People don’t realize that behind the characters there are people. Celebration has given the much needed love to Jar Jar, Rose, and TLJ. I’m proud to see that younger group of fans embrace Star Wars as a whole and the people who worked so hard to give it to us. As one who grew up with the prequels myself, it’s relieving to see that we’ll be the generation to help bring some positivity and kindness back into the franchise millions of people love so much.
So happy he’s having a great experience. Mad love for him, and his character. I grew up with Jar Jar and I loved him. Crazy appreciation for Ahmed Best!
Ahmed always seemed like a genuine guy from what I've seen in BTS videos, nice to see nothing has changed. Also great to see such a warm welcome from the crowd.
I'm glad that time has done Jar Jar some justice. He's just another character in the big universe of Star wars. I love seeing him back in the spot light. You're the man Ahmed!
He’s a fantastic performer - it’s great to see him get some respect finally , people are beginning to realise the effort that went into making the prequel films and they have aged better over time , kudos to Ahmed
I was 4 years old when the Phantom Menace came out. I absolutely loved the film and my father took me to see it 5 times. As I got older I saw the flaws in the film but it will forever hold a special place in my heart as the first Star Wars movie I saw in the theater with my dad together. Seeing Ahmed being welcomed was really touching.
Love this, for many reasons. Love that he got a great welcome, and love that he gives such great insight into the development of the technology behind mo-cap.
