CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT TA’REA CAMPBELL?!?!?!? I’M NOT COMPARING ANYONE AT ALL. BUT, THIS WOMAN TOOK THE KEY EVEN HIGHER AND STILL WENT FOR THE NOTE AT THE END AND GRABBED IT SUCCESSFULLY!!!
Michelle!!!! When you realize vocals and music you’d understand Michelle’s took the most vocal technique! She went from a big chest note to a bigger chest note on the same breath!!!! Wow! Amazing! Everyone else sang one note and held it. She sang 2 and held it going higher rather than lower! That’s very difficult. MICHELLE!!!
Okay I love Heather Headley she's truly a queen.....but is nobody going to acknowledge that she was literally a whole half step sharp when she first hit the high F 😂
I think montego might be my favorite. so much power and she stayed the most in tune whilst sustaining that high note also had vibrato like she sounded healthy and hit the note and killed it.
Ok, so the 2 singers from Korea have won this contest in my ears. Great tone and technique without screaming out the last "money" note. Nearly perfect!!!
@@PapaLobo94the thing that stands out most to me in the audios I've heard of her in Aida is that she's so quiet compared to everyone else she's on stage with. I don't know if that's a her problem or a mixing (soundboard) problem. Second most standout is that (in the recordings I've heard), she diverges too much from the style of the show. Variation is great and nl two singers will sing it the exact same way, but you have to make your variation really mesh and not over or under sing anything.
whoever is 6:30 is a MESS😂 oak joo-hyun (8:11) is a close second place, she did very well! deborah cox a close third. heather hedley is best. she can hit the note, easily, with power, and length. theres a reason she won that tony.
@@JohnDoe-gk7ok I mean ya pretty much lol. It’s part of the role and if you can’t do it in its entirety then you shouldn’t do it. Especially a moment like that. It’s like if Christine in Phantom of the Opera one day decided to hit an E bellow middle C lol. That’s not the song.
@@danielbaskins6601 all the facts! It’s a compete let down unless it’s a choice when you’re tired. Heather never took it down EVER and she would struggle being sharp but she never took it down. I’m more surprised that casting would even cast girls that can’t, it’s an iconic song and other girls that can. It’s no reason in the world why the stand-by is not hitting that note. No reason! Like how did Thursday get that gig?
Michelle Williams' part is original and creative 🤩 1st Heather : I've seen other videos with better performance, here she was off, she's the og 🤌🏾 2nd Deborah, Montego Glover, Florence, (perfect balanced mix, chest with head) Some are too heady when hitting the high F (Heather as well) 3rd Michelle just for originality, I thought she wouldn't hit the note but hit it by the end without taking a break
Yeah, like SHE was the standby? Like come on…. You know good and well she wasn’t the best singer so I’ll gonna take a guess she’s a Brilliant actress cause that was not it.
9:27 was the best to me. 7:23 was a tie with 9:27 8:10 is up there along with 8:35 and 4:31 they were AMAZING 6:06 was great But 9:50 man this got me crying, it was something about the robe and the ensemble it was just moving. Vocals weren’t perfect there at the beginning but she hit the note Before y’all ask about Heather It was the off tune high note for me
I saw most all the Broadway/1NT Aidas: Felicia Boswell (regional, not on tour), Toni Braxton, Ta'Rea Campbell, Maya Days, Nikki Renee Daniels (regional, not Broadway), Anika Ellis, Thursday Farrar, Heather Headley, Paulette Ivory, Saycon Sengbloh, Simone, Schele Williams There wasn't a bad, or even sub-good one of them. Heather Headley is unequivocally my favorite, followed by Paulette Ivory. Deborah Cox was the strongest of the celebrity Aidas. Anika Ellis sounds kinda rough here but I was really blown away when I saw her.
Lol. Oh, thanks for the response. I have the DVD myself already. I was just wondering how you got it. I think we did a pretty good job with the show. Very proud of our work
If that ending note don’t effortlessly come out in my sleep and I mean the original key. Then I wouldn’t even take the gig. That would be hell on earth worrying about hitting that shit 8 shows a week. HELL!!! And it sounds awful going down.
my top 3 are the first 3 Heather, Thursday, & Merle but Toni was great too don't know why Michelle Williams was even cast she can't vocally hold a candle to any of the women in this video hell she can't hold a candle to me and I can't sing but then neither can she imo
LOL she can run circles around you! I guess you haven't read reviews for her AIDA performance in Muny. She's improved since her first broadway performance. And she has more vocal prowess than some of these women here. Just because you don't like her or her voice, doesn't mean she can't sing! You have no credibility whatsoever!
Ladylace97 You obviously need to clean out your ears because if you compare the note that is held by all the singers, Michelle sings in tune = therefore can sing! Booyah!
+JR GR that's ur opinion mine is that she can't sing her way our of a wet paper bag after Freddy Kruger slashes it nothing you say is going to make your opinion any more valid than mine nor is it going to change mine. good day
Ladylace97 Unless you objective arguments! Opinions are supposed to be subjective. To imply she can't sing is plain stupid! She can sing circles around you - that's fact! Good day indeed! Booyah!
