I recently started following you on the recommendation of my uncle, Saeed Akhter Malik, and what a discovery it has been-truly a gem. You embody the spirit of a traveler, adventurer, philanthropist, socialist, and historian, all in one. One day, I hope to follow in your footsteps! It’s amazing how you persisted and never got discouraged. It’s not easy to convince anyone in Pakistan to give money for projects which are of historical importance & has to do with cultural preservation & heritage. There seems to be plenty for the VIP culture, tons of money is wasted on the upkeep of civil/Military bureaucracies. It’s such a shame.

Sadly, nothing has changed. You can get plenty of sponsorships to sing songs. But there is no support for any kind of research.

Sir the way you narrated the story, it's amazing. Meanwhile I was also focused on the book shelf, and I noted 2 volumes of Birds of Pakistan and mammals of Pakistan, published by Oxford University Press Karachi in the decade of 2000, now out of print. Thanks 🙏

Where did u live on Durand Road there were very few living places from Mansoora to malik Mubarik ! And on opposite only Dultanas !

We lived in 13 Durand Road, exactly opposite the In gate of Convent of Jesus and Mary. There is now a large building there.

I gather from the narration that you were already a member of the Royal Geographical Society before you embarked to England to study for your first book & that the society boasts of a fellowship list comprised of eight thousand I thought this number to be rather small given that the society was established in 1660. What do you think of this number- 8000 There is a chance of error in deciphering the membership of the RGS

The Society was established in 1830, sir. I had applied and been seconded for election as a Fellow and I went to London purely on speculation. I was elected because my friend Patrick Smethurst who had seconded me had attached some of my published work. I have no idea how many fellows there are. I know only that five Pakistanis are fellows.
