So true....have met with many elderly people in villages but they've very little recollection of major events in their areas. Exaggeration is quite common.

Exactly. Also, if some elderly person says they are 150 years old, no one does the simple arithmetic I have presented here, that is, by working out their ages from those of their eldest child.

😮When I saw the caption of Ur video clip " Sochna mana Hai " , I thought U r going to talk about Ur Army days. I have been an Army man ( veteran of EP 71) too , similar mind set by r Guederians prevails in thought and deed. But at a heavy cost in men and material .

People in rural areas stop counting years around age 80, which they round off to 100. 90 is rounded off to 110, and so on. Popular culture is obstinately unobjective and general allergic to evidence and logic. People are addicted to wishful thinking.

Sir, if you trek from Khera Gali to Kali Matti, there is a graveyard having around 30+ graves. Everybody laying there was above 100 like 102 to 113 years old range. Would that be possible? or again another miscalculation?

Human beings can naturally survive to the maximum of 115 years. Anything more than that is either false claim or a miracle.

It was naive or innocent of the people of old times to take things as supernatural or extraordinary. But when people start digesting these old stories in this era or science and technology, one wonders where we are going with such mindless acceptance of nonsense and making it a belief worth getting offended for.

All fakes. Plenty such abound here too. The other say I challenged some Army PROs here who claimed the Army Commander felicitated a 125 year old woman near Udhampur in J&K. Total fables.

About 2007 I was introduced to a "120 year old" man who used to cycle around. IHe had served in the British Indian army. Joined in 1942! I said he would have been over 60 in that year, what heroics did he perform in World War I? His response: "Odhi gall na karo, odhi gall na karo!" I tried to tell him he could not have been recruited at over 60, but he was adamant. He would have been about 18 in 1942. His children were younger than me.

میرے دادا کے پاس ایک ملازمہ تھی جو کہ ابھی بھی حیات ہیں وہ تقریبا سنچری کے پاس ہیں ان کے بقول وہ اپنی اوائل جوانی میں پاکستان ہجرت کرکے آئے تھے اس حساب سے وہ نوے سے کچھ اوپر کی بنتی ہیں اور وہ خود بھی مانتی ہیں مگر پورا پنڈ انہیں 130 کا بنائے ہوئے ہے
