Friend game me advice to learn all the notes on the fretboard (see where the repeats are 12+fret, E and e. Where BC and EF are one fret the others two frets) and learn back to that. Helpful youtube channels: Justinguitar, marty music, pebber brown.

I rally liked the way aion makes it easier to build a nice pedal. I built the halo (ehx big muff) the other day, and it was my first time soldering anything and that pedal came out amazing due to directions. They were laid out very easy to follow.

That pedal comes in kit form. Turn it into a dual drive with a clean drive or tube screamer and look out!!

Fantastic tone and touch as always, RJ. Due to the small form factor, I shelved my full sized Klon in favor of the Refractor. Put it in front of any medium drive pedal and get ready for something special.

I let him build me his 2nd refractor about 4 years ago, with engraved Centaur graphic and reliced housing. Looked terrific! Sadly, I sold it for a Centura - it just sounds that much better.

Amazing playing and such great tone. How does this pedal compare to the soul food? Sounds a bit richer with more butter and less highs. Not knocking the soul food, its a great pedal. It would be cool to see a head to head battle between the two pedals.

Ryan Clancy The Soul Food is hotter and mid heavy compared to most Klones (Klon Centaur clones), each have their own flavour, I have a MXR Sugar Drive, really great Klone, the blend between clean and overdrive gives you lots of tonal possibilities

Ok seriously how hard are these things to build? Because every pedal from this company sounds incredible and I'd rather pay 80 dollars for a Klon or Bluesbreaker and put in a few hours of work than spend at least triple that to satisfy my stupid tone snob needs. Seems like if you can get a few basics down, shouldn't be too hard. I'm too old to play with legos but building pedals sounds awesome. I just wish there was an option for a blank enclosure... if I'm building it I want to paint Gandalf on it or something.

This is way better. Just the components for this pedal cost as much as a Soul Food and you still have to build it yourself. Not that price is all that matters, the Klon isn't 10 times better than the Wampler Tumnus just because it costs more, but the Soul Food is kinda like the boss DS-1 of Klon-Clones: awesome pedal to get started with, would highly recommend, but after a few years, ends up on reverb or in the closet. If you don't want to build anything the Wampler Tumnus is the closest I've heard to the Klon.

Somebody grab me the link for the $88... I don't see it under $179.... I mean I just sank $128 on another OD (won't mention competition outta respect for demo action going on 😉)... The $88 is for the kit (which you solder and assemble yourself), and the more expensive price is for it preassembled. (Links for both are at the top of the video description)

@@baDWolf_75 It's a heck of a lot of fun, once you get into it - I've ended up building a whole bunch over the years and a kit like this would be a great place to start. (I've not bought kits from Aion yet, but I have built the Refractor from their PCB and it sounds great)

I sell PCBs as part of the DIY hobbyist to try and make some money, but I will ALWAYS recommend Kevin V at Aion; his stuff is top notch! If you want to get into the DIY world, this kit is the PERFECT way to start.

My Knees Hurt - So funny you say that. I used to sit just like that when I practiced and I forced myself to change my posture because it was destroying my back. Sitting up and even leaning back comfortably in a chair (or sofa) with a back totally eliminated the back problem. Now I totally lounge when I'm playing and more times than not probably have my feet up too :)
