Who set up that Hornet loadout? You have four single missiles mounted on double missile racks. If you had two double racks and two empty spots, there would be less weight and drag with the same firepower. That would also allow the Hornets to carry a three bag setup.
Yeaaaah, that Su-57 wouldn't have had much of a chance against them Eagles, they would have seen him from 40-50 nautical miles away, far enough to deny him the BVR advantage.
A cool (I think anyway) take on this would be: both parties land at the airbase, negotiations do not go smoothly - WAR IS DECLARED, it's a race to get the jets airborne and fight.
A couple of jets us/rus are patrolling (possible tanker refuels required) war is declared, they immediately intercept each other the other fighters have to takeoff from the airbase.

A possibly reason why you could see the Raptor and Felon from such long range, was because both of the aircraft were blasting radar emissions across the map with their super buffed mechanical radars. My theory was the 4th Gen RWRs were detecting it and DCS decides that's good enough to show the emitter on the map. I have seen SA-3 search radars show up when fog of war is set, so this is probably the reason. A bit cheaty if you ask me 🤷♂

Any US air superiority fighter or 5th gen fighter is blowing it out of the sky. It doesn't have the weapon capacity of the F-15, F-16 or F-18. It's basically a flying dump truck.

Realistically, both Presidential jets would turn tail at the first sign of trouble-they certainly wouldn't continue to loiter while their escorts all get shot down. The real question is, can you get close enough to the opposing Presidential jet and shoot it down, _before_ it has been tipped off by hostility and flown out of range?

Potential dynamic campaign series: what if: "The Flying Tigers" continued to operate as a US based civilian mercenary unit. Following the concept from which they originally operated, an experienced airforce available for hire. Try to start with P40s? And successful missions give you better budget to buy aircraft for the next conflict (assuming enough time has passed to need upgrades.) There has been non stop skirmishes everywhere since WW2, so you could do a million of them, and it would be fun to listen to Simba and Cap gaming out "acceptable losses" and not ending up on a shoestring black budget.
I can't see the Americans doing a double cross without some F15s present. If you said 1 F22, 3 F15s, and 3 F16s, I'd believe it. The F16 over the F18 due to the 16s up close deadlines. The 22 and 15 have everything else covered. Please do it again without the 18s. Honestly it would probably be 6 F15s with at least 2 F22s hidden.

I get a feeling Putin is far more involved in his defence than Biden is. I think the USA will be more reactive in this preparation with Russia being more proactive. I am goin on Russia before watching. Lets see if I change my mind after watching ;)
