the technical schooling for medical jobs tends to be the longest but IMO the most rewarding once you’ve completed it, diagnostic imaging for example is I think 300-400 days in length but the opportunities civilian side wise are sooooo good with that job
He is correct looks like still pretty much the same since 81. I was in casual status for 2 weeks before tech school started. Painted a bldg. We had army MP's come to part of our tech school for P.A.R.T. physical apprehension restraint techniques
My technical school was especially exciting. We graduated. And when it was time to ship to our school we went outside and waited and waited, and waited. Then the bus pulled up we got on to it we all sat down. Made a couple stops. We continued we pulled in front of a building, if I were to estimate we were probably less than a mile from my tech school. That was really exciting
brings back memories of Fort Leonard Wood, while all the other airmen at fun at an air force base. Army base Fort Leonard was better know as Fort Lost in the Wood....nothing to do there, where army and marines always woke us up at 4:30 am bc they had to do PT and we didnt. The marines always had to do push up before class....so I picked on them and counted to make sure they did all of them lol. All the future civil engineers went to Fort Leonard Wood.
for the medical field tech school will be at Fort Sam Houston Texas all the branches sent their medical people to train down there such as Navy Corpsmans, Army Medics, Air Force Medics, and Medical Technicians! my AFSC is 4A1X1 Medical Material Specialist or Medical Logistics 🤙🏽
Good luck in tech school. I was a medical laboratory technician, 904xx, at Sheppard AFB. We only had AF members. We lived in the old WW2 wooden dorms. 1972. There was a 2nd phase of Tech school, which was a year long. First part was 8 months 72-97, MSgt, but received commission in 91.
I went in as a diagnostic imaging tech and holy cow was the tech school long, but it was so rewarding when I was done 😁 I think it ended up being somewhere around a year and a half
It sounds like it's the same since I went through Tech School back in 2000. The only difference that I can think of is that my Tech School was split up into two parts, Lackland and then Sheppard. I don't know if they still split up the school like that or not.
I’m off to basic in February, and I’ve been given 1C8X3, or RAWS. There’s very little information on the job other than the basic description, would you happen to have any information on it?
My calculations counted 45 to 55 min. [ airbreathing engines ] to ? altitude. Then 20 to 40 sec. to go hypersonic. Then 5min 26 sec. to reach apogee. Orbital insertion. Guaranteed.
Nice informative video. Many people concentrate on Basic Training but not enough is said about how A school or even C school works. One thing I did learn from this is that Coast Guard MC's go to Fort Mead for training. Makes sense since we are such a small branch and it saves all branches some money if they work together.
YEP!! We called the coast guard ghosts because you hardly every see them lol I think there are like 3. They stay at the Marine detachment, they don't have their own building
@@AirmanVision I bet it doesn't help when we are in our Tropical Blues, the light blue shirt is the same one the AF wears . You have to look for the Coast Guard markings on them to see who we are.
@@Adventuregirl96 I just looked it up! haha, everyone wears the regular uniform and then depending on what your class is doing you'll wear fancy's from time to time for specific class projects what is really confusing is all the OCP's bc the Air Force and Army wear them now! haha
@@AirmanVision I’m an e5 5 years in army switching to af. Going from ground trans equivalent afsc to 1n4x2. So i just pov there and train with bmt trainees?
Hey Man, Thanks for serving. AF 94-00 here. I had a cousin just come home for Christmas and he was supposedly told by his commander that he could not wear his uniform on the airplane home due to terrorism. I had to laugh if that is true. If we have terrorists on our planes, we have bigger issues at hand. Have you heard this from any other tech school airmen?
I've heard some commands are iffy about it. But I never experienced it in the US. When I was overseas it was a goal to travel and blend in. But stateside I don't know why they would be worried. Probably a young Captain that had their first base overseas so when they became in charge of a tech school they have their overseas mindset still. haha
What if we leave near a tech school? Does that mean I still have to be at the dorm? Or can I leave right after BMT w family and go to the school like normal
My son didn’t want to use his leave for exodus because he was hoping his FDS was going to be overseas. Instead he’s doing the LSD tour and heading to Dyess after tech school. There’s a lot of paperwork involved in getting exodus leave.
Actually, you just need to fill out a 4392 and 988 form, print out your travel itinerary, and your LES. It took me less than 30 mins to fill everything out for my exodus leave, which imo, is worth going in the negative leave balance for. And going on exodus has nothing to do with your duty station; for example, I’m on exodus and I’m already assigned my first base, which is OCONUS.
@@Kasd111 thank you. My son just didn’t want to go into the negative just in case he was assigned overseas and he had more leave to explore. Best of luck to you and thank you for your service 🇺🇸
Nice video. I ship out March 1. I'm going in under the 9S100 DI. I haven't seen many(any) videos regarding my job, which I suppose makes sense given it's role. Any way to make a video regarding the 9S job? Or a video to help people walk through their SSBI?
This has been the method they've been using since COVID happened. Not sure if or when it will go back to how it used to be. They used to have graduation Thursday and you got the weekend with your family and shipped to Tech School Monday. Things change all the time, they may go back, they may completely change it. But as of right now, that is how it's working.
I’m currently at 191 for my weight and my recruiter wants me down to 185 and I leave on January 18th what happens if I don’t get to 185 can I even get to 185 in time
@@thegoat2874 ...it really depends on “what” you eat during your eating window too-ditch the carbs, sugar, soda & junk...eat mostly protein & maybe some green veg if you’re serious about dropping the weight. Make sure you get some non-sugared electrolytes (salt, magnesium & potassium) to keep your system working properly.
I have a contract for RPA sensor operator and ship out next month. I understand it’s a pretty lengthy tech school. If anyone has additional info please let me know!
Im in aircrew tech school right now at lackland. From what I’ve been seeing the 1U guys have been sitting around waiting for months as detail airmen waiting for a class date
yup, weekends don't count for classroom days This is why we wanted to let people know how it works! People go into it thinking it's consecutive days, not classroom days
my tech school will be on lackland AFB as well, any information on how that works? do u just get moved to a different part of the base after i graduate?
last one i promise! also, when i get to tech school are there restrictions? Ex: my parents are bringing me my car, will i be able to go off base or do i have to work my way up, my tech school is only 30 days
i have a question abbout tech schools, how would this work for reserve jobs? im mainly interested in public affairs. im thinking of joining but im still iffy on whether or not i wish to do reserves or active duty. if i have more questions abbout the air force is it possible for me to email or DM you? all this is pretty new to me thank you so much!
it's the same. I (Makenna) am Public Affairs. Guard, Reserve and Active Duty have the same tech school If you have more questions, we would suggest checking out the channel, or searching your question We have put out pretty much all the info we know! Best of luck with everything!
