These were the very first pair of Jordans i paid resell for for back in 2001. Got em on ebay because that was pretty much the only way to have a shoe you couldn't find in stores anymore. These are a must have for me and they release 1 day before my bday. What a nice gift to myself lol. Personally i like these just a little more than the 2001 pair because they're highs instead of mids.
actually not really... original was a high and didnt have jeweled logo it was stamped... they did release a mid later on... also this shoe has vinyl tongue not leather same goes for ankle collar... original shoe was actual suede not nubuck etc....
2020 has been trash. But Weartesters has been a definite highlight. Very glad I came across your channel this year. Thank you Chris and Jodi for what you do.

I come for the trips down memory lane and history lessons. I remember my first retros in 10th grade in 2000, the jordan 5 metallic. Keep bringing the nostalgia!

We're same age group, I was mostly an Air Max guy and when 99 -01 came around I grabbed the Black Cement 3s, Infrared 6s, and all the 11s released...now I'm picky about most Js or Air Max

Japan has a lot of Nike exclusive cws because of Nike’s start and partnership with Japanese shoe company onitsuka. Phil knight studied a lot of Japanese culture while on his business trips to onitsuka hq. Just one of the reasons👍
One of my favorite Jordan 1s being turned into a hi! One of my sneaker pet peeves are white midsoles or outsoles and the pure starch white color being tossed into unnecessary colorways. This color scheme works very well regardless of my pet peeves. I know I wouldn't be able to get these but still glad to see these come back in an altered form.
I kick myself in the ass I had every OG original 1 to 5 in very good shape and my mom threw them all way after I moved out. I still believe that Jordan Brand should give us old sneaker heads first dibs on retros. I watched every game Jordan played I was a New York knicks fan so I hated the Bulls but respected his kicks. “Everyone is trying to be unique by looking the same”....I believe that’s the motto and company mission statement for The GAP. 🤣 Japan always had mad crazy colors for the AJ 1. Growing up I would go to this Japanese bookstore and they had BOON magazine...it’s like a lifestyle/ sneaker mag in japan. It was the first time I saw the AJ 1 in more than the original colorways....there were crazy colors including the all silver, but most were “Chicago colorway” based with different colors on the colored panels.
That’s how you Color-block a shoe. If Jordan Brand kept to that scheme, they wouldn’t have any duds. Obviously they have to mix things up every now and again, and sometimes they find a new blocking that actually works. But this here, these shoes…Yes!
The 80’s was the BEST, as far as the Sneakers IMO....IVE BEEN SAYIN THAT FOR YEARS.....2000/2001 Resurrection of Nike Dunks and Air Jordan 1’s is Crazy. Not gonna lie I got the Nike Dunk Low 2001 Brazil Colorway, earlier this year. Couldn’t afford them at the time I was DEAD BROKE in 2001 and my parents were definitely NOT GONNA BUY name brand sneakers lol 😂. Only Payless( R I P) or Fabco sneakers, ah memories..... Didn’t even know these came out again, THANK YOU 🙏
In 1994, I twice walked into champs and picked up the Jordan 1 chicago, and the Jordan 3 black cement for like 60 bucks each!!😆😆 them days are long gone!!😔

Dope. I was born in 85 and for me it was the Penny's that got me into sneakers in like 5th grade or something. Then it was the Questions and finally when the 12s came out in middle school and I was hooked. Obviously air max 95, too. Man, good times.

Paid $180 resell and they were only like $100 retail if i remember correctly. Luckily i was one of the very few kids in HS with a part time job so i didn't mind paying what i did. These are a must cop for me and they're releasing 1 day before my bday, what a perfect gift to myself lol
I was working at NikeTown ny when these came out. While they were a Japan exclusive we somehow got them in our inventory but never stood a chance on the shelves. Back then in 2001 we had an influx of Japanese consumers always traveling here to the US on standby with body bag size duffles ready to just swoop up the inventory we had so was never able to get a pair. Glad 19 years later I’m able to get the W on SNKRS for these. Just 🔥
I'm 30 i remember seeing them back in the day but had no clue they were exclusive. Still nostalgic to me even just had seeing the shoe with those jeweled wings that were on the patent leather mids
I’m older than you but unfortunately the first Air Jordan I remember were the Concord XIs. We were a Showtime Lakers and then the Rockets household before MJ came back, and then that’s when I really started watching him.
I got a pair from Flight Club about a decade ago. I've always worn 1's & Dunks even when the hype wasn't there. In the 80's it was hard to wear bred color ways because Knicks but I loved the shoe so I would get alternate colors. I have a pair on the way. 1st Copp of 2020
A few years back, maybe like 3 years ago, I remember walking into my local FootLocker and seeing some Jordan 5s I believe with maybe 3s sitting on the back shelf aka the “non-popular” shelf. Pretty funny looking back now.
I was also poor asf when retro Jordan took off in 98-99. No cap, but I actually passed on the retro iv for the jump man pro quicks because I didn’t know anything about them. I always ponder how that shoe could have changed my life. And when these dropped, I could only admire my classmate, Mike’s, pair. Thank you for another great video!
Back in the day, the white/navy ina mid top and the black/red in a high top, both released on the same day. They were both numbered. The black/red was a bit more limited. The white/navy did have a jumpman on the back. It was summer of 2001. The black/red had the nylon tongue but the swoosh on the side of the shoe was a nubuck/suedeish material.
Got it over retail. Had to...Quality is crazy and the simple yet nice colorway does it for me! Sidenote: noticed you graduated highschool in 2001, so did I! Little "fun fact". Hahaha 🤙

I remember those J1 retro with the serial number on the tongue, those were pretty nice and undervalued back then. BTW, I usually agree with you Chris, except with things like the Jordan XV being beautiful XD, but it's kind of weird because I love the sneakers inspired on them or takedown from them, like the Swift 6 or more actual like the Ultra.fly 2 and Why Not Zer0.1. Anyway, great video as always!!!
These dropped here in the Philippines like a week ago.. and the moment it dropped it was sold out in minutes even the youth sizes which i wear.. ugh! These Jordan 1’s are lit 🔥
Ive always loved this shoe, you barely saw them in 2001 around me. I was a freshmen in College at the time most of the people rocking 1s was all the fly girls haha oh them days, I cant wait to get my pair. I copped the Lo version SB did and was dying for this to drop.
I know what Jodi said bout the stacked logo. When its on the back of a 4 it looks off centered and here it looks more evenly distributed and pleasing to the eye 👁
