I have seen numerous crashes involving failed elevator cables. As a layman, I am just curious as to why they never built in any redundancy to lock the elevators in a stable position in the event of a cable snapping. The plane would be difficult to fly and land, but would not go into a nose dive and would at least give some small chance of survival.

I flew into Papeete on a Qantas 747 and the choice to get to club med - which has been closed now - on Morrea was either to take a two hour ferry once or twice a day or take this flight It took all of about five or 10 minutes and as I recall the pilot would even let a passenger sit in the right front seat When you land at Papeete you can see the huge island of Morrea right across the channel which is about 11 miles I am assuming when they say the airport didn't have radar it is the one on Morrea and not Tahiti

@@kamakaziozzie3038 that, and I believe after the B1900 latest maintenance, the elevator cables were improperly adjusted. I'm NOT going to sit here and convert French to English or convert speed and distance to feet and miles per hour because it is the same trouble. Your target audience is not Canada because there is nobody there. No references in English ruins your video. Language applies exactly same to speed and distance as words. I have to look up what "papion" means in French for instance "butterfly" translated. I cannot see 20m? I can see 65'-7" and forget metrics better because one has to split hairs in all measuring systems. If i say 65' exactly then that would be 19,8 meters (less accurate by the way) You narrate in English and "So Should Distance Then" is my point.
