The best synth Roland has made in 20 years. Close your eyes to the lack of classic design choices and just listen to the tone. If they had put this in a Juno-X like box, it would have been a massive seller.

Yeah, I've been waiting for that one. I think it would make a perfect boutique, since it matches the four voice limit. They could make it even more compelling by making a single boutique with both Jupiter-4 and ProMars modes (since they have nearly identical controls). I also want a Jupiter-6 plugout, but I don't think there's much more ACB stuff in the pipeline.

Does it have those weird short fall keys? i hate those... cant they just make a modular keyboard that you can order with your desired user interface. like swap the keybed out for a different one. or something.

If you mean short travel, no, these are normal synth action keys. It's not like the garbage keyboard in the System-1.

all my presets do not match up with what this video seems to have on that system 8 and some arnt even there on my system 8

Superb machine! Got one at last and cheap. :) The only irritant is the 'authentic' 106 Chorus noise. I don't need that noise and would love to get rid of it.

@Django Fett No menu diving in this case. Just turn down the Tone knob on the first effect. It controls the level of the chorus noise.

I LOOKED INTO IT ONCE AND COULDN'T FIND AN ANSWER, SO I SUSPECT IT IS EITHER A MADE UP WORD OR PERHAPS AN ACRONYM. CAPS LOCK IS STRANGELY CATHARTIC! ANYWAY THIS IS AN AWESOME SYNTH SO I'M SURE YOU ARE ENJOYING IT.

It means a plugin that can you can use on your computer (like any other plugin) but can also be "plugged out" to hardware, which means it runs on the hardware and doesn't need to be connected to a computer.

Yeah, a plug-in called plug-out. It is really an inreagously weird name. However the System-8 seams to be an instanding product. Outspite of it only having 8 voices I am sure you can make some innerworldly music with it.

Analogue modelling software, 8 voices poliphony, no aftertouch....Is this thing supposed to be a flagship? Not for me.

The originals its modeling didn't have aftertouch and most didn't even have 8 voices. If you want a vintage modeler box, it's the best. And if you want something else, there are plenty of options. We live in a golden age of affordable synths.

Actually you get this as a vst plugin on the Roland Cloud. It's a very good synth.

It is a plugin, its the same as the Roland Cloud plugins BUT it sounds very, very good. I wasn't impressed based on most of the demos I've heard on YT but thought I'd buy one to hear it in person and its probably one of the best sounding Roland digital synths I've used. I run the System 8 alongside Zenology and cloud and its a match made in heaven so basically all plugins but I could easily never use another hardware synth from Roland again.

You're right that this can exist in VST form, because it does. So what? The emulations sound practically identical to the original hardware.

@@nukubu9379 I do hear a difference, but it's negligible. Where they differ significantly is that the emulations support velocity, which makes them far more expressive instruments than the originals.

This got to be the most crappy synth demo I have ever seen.... The first 5 min is just crap noise... Don't get me wrong I love the system 8 and there is a lot of great videos showing the synth true power. Roland you better delete this video asap because this is truly bad marketing

I'm sorry, but this sounds all a bit sterile to me.. No warmth, but just much too static .. those digital oscillators .. Lack of analog sounding, .. really .. "Jupiter 8 emulation" ? --> absolutely *not*

Believe whatever makes you happy, but you're wrong. In actual fact the emulation is so good that most people can't pick them apart in a blind A/B test.

@@WildernessMusic_GentleSerene There's a "Condition" parameter that goes from -255 to +255. By default it's at 0, which I suppose is an analog synth in good condition (but still imprecise, because it's analog). Negative values make it more stable and clean, while positive values simulate various effects of aging analog components.

@@st0rmchild The new version of the plug out has an option as a "color knob" that really makes it sound like anything you want it to. This is the department at Roland that is doing things right.

are all the sounds on the device and are all the buttons and knobs already assigned, what I am asking is it like Ju-06a where no editing or patching, programing paramaters is needed, this was recommended as a first synth by a friend, I'm literally starting from scratch, I know software VST, any advice would be helpful.
