Same as when you go off-grid or any other situation where you don't have a city sewer connection: things can get messy, disgusting, and gross - but that's the reality of dealing with waste. When everything works fine, there isn't an issue, but fixing things when these systems break is just part of being independent.
Absolutely. In a really weird way, as gross as it is, when the job is done it kinda reminds you how self-sufficient you are, and that's a pretty good feeling.

"Heat gun and a poop pipe" literally lol'd😂 what you needed was an Amy to hold the light 🤷♀️ I was thinking that if you had 4 hard rubber feet, you could have used them as spacers under the plinth and then your head would have something like a shock system but also it would have kept the screws from going too deep. 👌 Secure is good, bathroom trips will be safer now 😜 I love watching all the boat work, but I love doing the boat work too so that might color my opinion 😅 sometimes I hate watching videos in past because I sit here and go ooh ooh, I have an idea! Sharing a thought, roll up tissue paper and stuff into those four holes. Then mark the paper with lipstick. Place the white oak in place and press down. Holes transferred? Cheers
Hrm, not a bad idea actually. I don't have lipstick, but I'm sure I could have found something. In the end though, because the bolt heats were above to plinth, I couldn't have used the original holes as the bolts would be under the head.
Watched plenty of the Red Green Show down here in the lower 48 States on PBS (Public Broadcast Station), and as soon as heard Red Green, because of the subject matter, thought of the guy whose job sucked. Yep, guy with the big tank on a big truck. When most of the lights went out, I thought "Looks like she's going to tell us spooky stories like around a campfire" and then I hear about that same thing and for some reason that got me laughing out loud. My cat was probably thinking, he's gone a bit nuts, but got ta love em.

Don't listen to the people who tell you they don't want to see stuff you want to show - they can always turn off. You are showing these things is great detail and from the perspective of a novice; this is valuable to many people who have no idea where to even start.
I replaced all my gross "fresh"water lines (3 weeks for what would have been 2 days' work if access wasn't so tight on my 25' Cat) and was SO happy the PO opted for a compost head. I cannot imagine what that would be like for a boat that spends half a year in storage. Congrats on getting that completed!
I always find that when you're out there somewhere, having a toilet is fantastic when you got to go. What an impressive piece of Mc givering but it works. Great. Quite a complex piece to install.

I am eager to see what you think of the compost head in a few months. I'm sold on compost heads but I bought a Sun Mar for my boat and I HATE it. I'm looking for a replacement now and I'm trying to get a consensus on the best one to use in a boat. Keep up the good work!
So I've already used it for the trip home, and it worked extremely well. No smell _AT ALL_. It's a bit weird to get used to, but once you are, it's perfectly fine. A friend of mine who also has the Airhead had an idea I might steal; He's planning to put a valve on the first use tank to run to the shower pump, so that when he's far enough out to dump overboard, and it's time to drain the tank, he can turn on the shower sump, drain the tank and flush it with sea water.
Ingenuity and duct tape are a boaters best friend .lol. I almost fell off my chair laughing at the wires through thr door handle . Not at you because we have all done dumbass stuff that was unintentional. i made beautiful kitchen cabinets and after installing them in a corner realised i could not open the drawers on one because they hit the handles of the other ?
