Spent 4 years of my life repairing and cleaning the flight line and the runways of the ol' George AFB 1981- 1985. Seeing this, as well as the mountain by Oro Grande sure brings back memories. Thank you for posting.

Many moons ago I was out there looking around. I had just returned from Tokyo 2 weeks earlier on a United 747 to LAX. In talking to one of the crew they told me that this would be that aircrafts last flight. So when I was out there and went over to look around, there was that aircraft! I knew it because it had an engine nacelle on it with the newer United color scheme that I remembered seeing when I boarded the plane in Narita. I'm guessing they offloaded the plane at LAX and then the next day or something flew it out to Victorville.

I love the Big Planes, I use to go to LAX in the early 70;s on the roof tops to watch them take off and land. The louder those turbines roared the more exciting it was. It’s sad the Big 747, and that Silver Wing Monster in the skies, the Airbus A380 at it’s final destination in the Boneyard in Victorville. Last youtube video I saw, there were still several Airbus A380’s being built, So they’ll be going straight to the boneyard. This COVID pendemic is has changed the world. Maybe one day we’ll see them fly again in the not too far future.

A lot of those planes are being refurbished, not necessarily done with their flying days. The Southwest planes are the 787’s that they’ve been having problems with. There is an airplane graveyard in that area, but a lot of that footage isn’t of the graveyard but rather just the area in which planes are being refurbished.

Viewers you have to remember these aircraft have a "shelf" life, that life is driven by the cost to keep it flying, there comes a time (not always) but it's cheaper or even profitable to part the aircraft out than keep sinking money into it you will never see a return on, is for how expensive fuel is vs newer more fuel efficient aircraft. As mentioned above supply and demand for spare parts, you can make a good return $$ so it's an easy decision to part it out. Another big factor is how many aircraft Airbus and Boeing and producing a month, also many countries today won't allow aircraft to be registered if they are older than 15 years old. I think I saw S Korea last week won't allow aircraft older than 10 years to be flown or registered in that country by local airlines. There are more reasons than I want to go into here, but the above are just some big factors when a Airline, Bank, lessor and owner is deciding if they want to go down this road on ferrying one of these aircraft to places like Victorville. But just remember not all these aircraft will get parted out some will be put into a long term storage program and after a few years when it makes sense start flying it again. Delta Airlines did this last month with a 777 that had been out of service for 1-2 years in storage that was put back into service. - Just viewing the video I see some aircraft that will be used for cargo conversion for Amazon and other cargo airlines.

That’s a lot of southwest 737s, I recognize the United 747. Really miss those wish they were still flying them. Interesting fact those two generic 747-400s may become the new Air Force One but it isn’t confirmed. I really want to take a trip out to here it seems worth it seeing a those FedEx aircraft, retired 747s, 777s, 737s, 717s, some airbus aircraft too. Is that L1011 in the beginning still airworthy because it looks like it could be, you never know right.

SCLA in Victorville is a fully operational airport. One day in 20 years it will be a major hub for the transportation of goods and trade. Most of the aircraft, are functional and be readied for flight status. The cities surrounding the airport can be part of a master plan that can nurture, fund and promote future 22nd century technologies. Only… can the people chose the right political leadership?
