Airport Card Installed into iBook G4 

Thank you very much. I didn't realize I had to give the card an extra push (to go click) until I saw your video - now I was able to put the wire clip back in place and - Voila!

@Joeki11a that is correct. Without the airport card you can not connect to wireless networks.

The 1.33GHZ iBooks require a special bluetooth and aiprort card... model number is: A1126 If you look on ebay you can find them for about $25... the only problem is to install them you have to open the computer all the way down to the motherboard.

Yes it is! Memory and airport are really easy... HD is a pain. Like your videos. Older powermacs are awesome. They seem to last forever!

@SteveDaCameraMan It won't fit the G4. The G3 uses the original airport card, the G4 uses the extreme airport card.

@Quekil830 I hear that a lot! Most good apple shops don't charge for that install.

i have a apple airport card from my ibook g3 .. i wanted to know will that fit in a ibook g4 or a powerbook g4

my ibook g4 does not look like this when i lift up the keyboard... where on yours there's an easy slot for the airport, mine has a removable grill that only gives access to the RAM. wha?

@jolsonandjones The newer 1.33 ghz iBook G4's had an internal airport card. The airport card is under the top casing, so you have to dissemble the laptop to get to it. You can find the cards on ebay for about $25.

@1zcrew No. The laptop will work without an airport card, but you will not be able to connect to wireless networks.

Without this the IBook won't be wireless??

Hey there mate, thanks for this... I was wondering how to get wireless on this thing... My brother recently gave it to me for my travels in Australia, but its pretty useless without wireless... I have the 800Mhz iBook G4 look all the same when I pull off the keyboard... Do you happen to know the model number for the airport extreme card I would need? And also once you put it in whats involved installation? Does it come with the Card when purchased! Sorry I'm new to Mac, would appreciate help.

@edmorgan84 It is known as an "Airport extreme card". A model number that would work as well is A1026 or A1027. Basically if it looks like the one in the video it will work.

NO!!! You need the original airport card... check out my video on installing the airport card into an iBook G3.

i have an airport card installed in my ibook g4 but it is unable to connect to wireless networks from a farther distance it connected well at right next to the router

Try pulling it and and putting it back in... it should be flush. There isn't any trick.
