When we first considered living full-time in an Airstream, people online told us we were crazy. "It's way too small!" they said. Were they right?
Turns out, this travel trailer is perfect for our needs. In our opinion, the 27FB Queen bed is one of Airstream's best models, whether or not you want to live full time in an RV.

When we were researching Airstreams, we spent HOURS on RU-vid. We soaked up all the information we could about every model of Airstream. It was helpful to see how other people lived, camped, and traveled in their camper trailers. Videos allowed us to see what worked for other people, and compare their needs to ours.
Between watching dozens of videos and spending loads of time in trailers at the Airstream dealer, we felt like we made the right decision. But time would tell. After a year on the road, we love our shiny home even more than the day we moved in. It's perfect for us!
Will this trailer work for you, too? Watch to find out!
In this video, we'll give you an in-depth tour of our camper, inside and out. We'll show you our favorite features and modifications. And, you'll get an idea of how we live full time in just 200 square feet.

We have a ‘11 27fbq classic - identical layout, slightly different details. We’re not yet retired empty nesters, and for the 2 of us it’s really perfect. We often have 1-2 grandchildren along, and it’s adequate for that (for a weekend). I always watch videos on similar ASs just to see how other people organize, and I always learn something. Thanks.

It's certainly not as comfortable for relaxing as a recliner is, but we have spent many full days working and eating at the dinette. The dinette isn't a great place to watch TV unless you convert it to a bed. For that reason, we usually watch our shows in the front bed.

Very nice review. Pls. Tell us about your towing experience and weight management. Also source energy details and consumption.
@ThisWyldeLife
@ThisWyldeLife 2 года назад
We've towed with a Chevy 2500 diesel. The diesel engine provides some extra power and engine braking over a gas engine, which is nice to have in the mountains. It's also a little more fuel efficient. More important than the engine is payload rating. With anything less than a 3/4 ton pickup, you will be pretty close to your payload limit just by hooking up a loaded 27FB trailer. Payload rating minus trailer tongue weight is how much capacity you have remaining for people, gear, pets, etc. (Tongue weight is the weight exerted by the trailer on the tow vehicle's hitch.) The 27FB has a tongue weight of about 1,100 lbs when loaded up for camping. Some 1/2 ton pickups, particularly ones with a heavy diesel engine and luxury features, can have a payload limit of only ~1,200 pounds 😬 You can check out our truck tour to see how we haul all of our gear ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SDrAfOmgm9Q.html Not sure what you mean by "source energy." Hi you all!! Great videos!! we have been camping in an 19' Sol Horizon and have just order a Globetrotter 27"!! Can't wait to get it!! We had a question on the we Boost mount. It loooks like you mounted it to a telescoping flag pole, is that correct?? If yes how did you do it and run cable into the rig?? Thanks and keep up the videos!! Hope to see you all someday!!
@ThisWyldeLife
@ThisWyldeLife 3 года назад
Hi, thanks for watching! Congratulations on the upgrade. The Globetrotter is a beautiful trim! The telescoping pole is actually part of the WeBoost RV65 package ( amzn.to/3gkpLIB ). The kit includes a 6" flat co-ax cable that we run through the front storage hatch. The booster is inside that storage locker. The kit also comes with two adhesive mounts that stick to the side of the trailer to anchor the pole in place. By design, we should be using both mounts, but because the entire trailer is curved we can only use one. Ever since the first mount came unstuck in a windstorm and our pole came crashing down, we have been talking about ordering a new solution. We've seen a lot of RVers use a flag pole base that is held down by the tongue jack ( amzn.to/3gakNzc ). We've never seen someone stick a WeBoost pole in there, but if the dimensions work we think it would be a good solution. Hope that helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.

@@ThisWyldeLife Thank you for the info!!! We are talking with the dealer about options also. I have seen a couple of installations where there is a mount on top that telescopes up about 4 feet I think. Trying to find a solution that is simple to maintain and use. @ThisWyldeLife
@ThisWyldeLife 3 года назад
@@stevedeniseildefonso7983 the rooftop installations are also a good option and require little to no setup at each new campsite. Our pole isn't difficult to set up, but it does take a few minutes to pull it out of the truck, connect cables, and telescope the pole. It can grab a weaker signal though because it has a maximum extension of 25'. Either option will help you get service in more remote areas, which is a huge benefit!
@sirdavidalot
@sirdavidalot 2 года назад
On my 27, I ran the weboost cable into the satellite input. The cable comes out behind the radio, so you can put the booster in that area. Just a comment, but for what Air Streams co$t you would think they would engineer the area @14:58 to be enclosed and not right under your pillow? I wonder if it's off gassing right where you're sleeping, or if the service get's hot? I just think that they could tub that in, seeing how most owners are upgrading with solar, inverters and battle born batteries...
@ThisWyldeLife
@ThisWyldeLife Год назад
Lithium batteries don't off-gas, so no concerns there. The inverter does make a slight, very high-pitched wine that is a little annoying, but it was our decision to put it there. The standard lead acid batteries that Airstream includes go in an exterior box on the tongue of the trailer.

SOLD! I love it! Been trying to figure out which model I want… that one seems perfect for me. Ty! What do you pull it with? 1500 or 2500?
@ThisWyldeLife
@ThisWyldeLife 2 года назад
It just might be the perfect Airstream! We pull with a 2500. Airstreams have a pretty heavy tongue weight once they're loaded up. The 27FB will be about 1,100 pounds. For most 1500 trucks, that only leaves a few hundred pounds of payload for people, pets, and gear. Here's a tour of our truck: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SDrAfOmgm9Q.html

I have the same model. For me its easily the best. I considered a 25FB and a 28RB. 25FB is a bit to small and I don’t like East West beds. 28RB the lounge in the back is wasted space for me and looks away from those amazing windows in the back.

Do you do anything special when you cook? I hear cooking or baking in an airstream puts a lot of moisture in it. Is that true? My husband and I are looking into this model but we are also huge cooks and would hate to compromise on that
@ThisWyldeLife
@ThisWyldeLife 3 года назад
You are correct, moisture is a big concern, but it's typically easy to mitigate! The key is to run the exhaust hood above the stove any time you are using the oven or stove. Aside from pulling out carbon monoxide and other harmful chemicals, the fan will also exhaust all of the steam from your food. We also run the hood if we have something like a pot of soup sitting on the stove, releasing a lot of steam as it cools. Same goes for showering... make sure to run the shower exhaust fan to pull out steam. When running any exhaust fan, it can be helpful to crack a window, or open another fan cover without running the second fan. This allows fresh air to more easily enter the camper. Have fun with your Airstream purchase decision!

I still think Airstreams look the best from the exterior but for their price, they are just to behind on the times internally with tech. At this price I’d expect 400amp hour lithium battery’s, a 3000w inverter and a controller. I’m sure you could find a way, but I want that standard from the factory. For what it’s worth, Class-b campers since 2019 have been being made for us younger people and it shows. Watch this then watch a video on the Winnebago EKKO to see how much more you get in a smaller space.

My only worry is reliable internet access, for my work I will need to be online full time, So not much boon docking for us. Do you have advice on a good internet service when you do use it? T-Mobile hotspot? Starlink? Thanks for all the info. Very helpful.

Internet access was one of our biggest concerns jumping into full-time camper living, but after some experience it’s turned out to be much easier than expected to get good service. We only use Verizon, but also having an at&t hotspot can increase your odds of always having a good signal.

Hello, Hannah. Thanks for watching and congrats on the new camper! We also have the Royal Berkey ( amzn.to/2Tj5njc ), and it jusssst fits. We use a #25 Le Creuset, which is 3.5 qts. It's oval though, and a round dutch oven of the same height would be higher capacity and still fit. Ours is 6" tall with the lid, which fits on the middle oven rack. You could use a taller dutch oven on the lowest rack setting, but you'd probably start to see burning on the bottom of bread.

Yea, the 25ft and the 27ft are my favorite models. The main difference is the 25ft Queen bed runs East-West, whereas the 27 goes North-South. I prefer the N-S alignment, but many people don’t care. Also the wardrobe is about twice the size in the 27 vs the 25. Great choice. Enjoy

Hi there we are in the UK and have an International 684 Airstream. It’s designed for the European market but it’s very similar to yours inside. The EU versions are lighter in weight than the US versions, we don’t have massive trucks to tow them, we tow ours with an Audi Q8. Airstream’s are quite rare in the UK. We’ve done quite a bit of travelling around Europe with ours but would love to do some really long trips. We just watched the video where you talked about moving out of your house to live in your Airstream, so my wife now wants to sell our house. Well keep posting your adventures. Many thanks Carl
@ThisWyldeLife
@ThisWyldeLife 2 года назад
Very cool! Didn’t know that there was a different line of Airstreams for Europe. It makes sense, because it seems impossible for our massive trucks to share the narrow roads you have with other cars. There’s a lot to be said for towing a smaller, lighter trailer with similar features. Enjoy your travels-whether full-timing or returning to your home base whenever it feels right!
