Stop doing her chores and let her do it. When she complains, tell her a golddigger doesn’t do chores.

... She spoiled as hell already. You give her everything and her grade are going down and you think working will make them worse.. she can go to soup kitchen then and feed the homeless. So she can tell she got it better then most. And you should stop spoiler her as it get the point. She will live off you her whole life.

I agree with this very much. The daughter needs to see the other side of life. You did well to give her the abridged version of the beginning of your life with your husband and she needed to hear it. All she knew was the good life her parents were currently giving her. Now is the time for character building.

NTA , she clearly doesn’t respect. Stay at home mothers If I respect to you is based of you having a job Her mindset is heavily screwed up Like she’s 15 I get it. She’s a child. Still Her not being able to differentiate between an actual gold digger and stay at home, mom Is honestly concerning She only apologized when she knew that you had a job and you paid the bills before , her respect for you is conditional She should respect you whether you Worked or not Not to mention sacrificing your career only for her to be ungrateful a slap in the face

@@SnerMerNer bro what? Anybody can judge you of that it’s not something only women do Also I am a woman speak here A lot of women do not actually their partner being rich (it’s more of a bonus good that you have it OK if you don’t) but someone who’s actually financially stable

Frankly, I don’t have much respect for SAHMs either, unless the children are very young or are homeschooled. What role model are you for your daughter? You cook, you clean and you do the laundry. Waste of your degree as a teacher. Fine if that’s the agreement you have with your husband but don’t come crying if your daughter doesn’t respect you or doesn’t show any ambition either. Not saying you need to work fulltime but why not work parttime? Also gives your daughter the opportunity to do some chores.

@@franskehovinga1327Same, op can go back to work even art time to safe for retirement as after the kid is in school there is not that much to do.

@@SnerMerNerdepends on in which society you live in but but yes. As a woman you can't make it right. If you work full time, you struggle balancing work, family, household and your hobbies, as a housewife many people think you dont wanna work or dont have a good enough education/job training. Where I live, you pretty much need 2 breadwinners and If you have kids, its expected from mothers to work again when Kids go to daycare/kindergarten or school.

The daughter is 15 years old…she’s going to say shit she doesn’t mean just to get a rise out of her parents. Yes she should have been doing chores at a younger age and maybe OP should have clued her daughter in on what their prior financial status was

That girl is way past spoiled. OP asking what kind of work she should have her do. She's 15. I bet that gal has never lifted a finger to do anything in the house. Laundry -no, wash dishes -no, sweep the floor -no, scrub the bathroom -no, cook any meal -no, wash the windows -no, mow the yard -no. She should already know how to do all of these.

If she's never done any of that then her parents are failing her. She will be one of those spoilt 30-40 year olds still living with mommy and daddy that can't even boil an egg.

@@jessicathompson236 OP saying I don't want her to spend to much time working. That gal hasn't worked a day in her life. Besides teaching her how to cook, clean and fix little things isn't her working. That's her learning how to live. How to take care of herself and possibly a family in the future.

@@lindah3803 , Exactly, but it's pretty clear that's she's never done any of that though. She doesn't even get her own snacks for herself or do her own laundry according to this video.

My best tip for OP is to open up to her daughter about how she grew up with money troubles and started working to pay bills at home at the age of 14, then about how she supported her husband and was the sole provider for awhile, about how she used to teach and how she gave it up to raise her, so she could have the best of everything life has to offer, and be a homemaker and supportive wife. Ops kid needs to know her history and why what she said hurt op.

My first thought. The concerning thing isn’t that she just sees mom like this. This is just how she sees any stay at home wife/mom and it’s just not right.

What does your 15 year old daughter know and appreciate about the sacrifices you made to get where you are? She is not qualified to call you anything. Be a parent, not a friend. You won’t regret it.

Damn, my mom worked just for the sake of working. She had a huge saving from only 4-5 yrs of work but her new boss was very AH around the time she and my dad planned to have a kid so she quit and never return to work. My dad takes pride in being the provider and my mom value times with me. I never once felt bad that my mom is a SAHM but I flaunt the fact that she can be with me 24/7 to everyone 😂😂 I love spending times with her until she gets grumpy 😂😂

Half AH. OP should have been teaching her kiddo how to do chores and basic life skills WAY earlier! Plus should have told the kid the sacrifices early on so her kid would have looked at OP as a role model rather than a “gold digger” house wife. I’m blessed to have a dad who is also a businessman and mom who became a housewife after I was born. My mom taught me how to do things ever since I started kindergarten. My parents also told me not only the challenges they faces but the sacrifices each of them made to give me a comfortable lifestyle. I can’t thank them enough for everything that they have done for me.

I wouldn't call her an ah for that. Some parents make children focus on grades more then chores. What she needs to be called the a for is that her child understands nothing about respect. I also would call her the ah for not teaching her the difference between being a stay at home mom and a leech. She disrespected her mother and her father with that remark. He works hard because he loves you. Treating him like the man is a dick move. No respect for her mother crazy. Clean clothes on her back and warm food she apparently thinks just falls out of the sky.

You need to have a talk with her about respecting women in general. It doesn’t matter if a woman is a stay at home mom or not. The fact that she was willing to judge you, but only apologized once you had proven your worth as a human to her is disgusting. It’s not just about respecting you because you’ve done work in the past, you still do fucking work, everyday, for HER specifically. And she doesn’t need to think she can judge and berate SAHMs

the mom shouldn’t ignore her daughter but she should punish her daughter. it doesn’t matter if the daughter didn’t know the mom used to work she can’t be allowed to talk that way to her.

I know a lot of parents want to hide their past from their kids. But it's part of what made you the adult that they love. So I think sharing your past struggles with your child when they're old enough to understand what it really means to sacrifice can be a good bonding experience I think it can be hard for kids to really conceptualize the fact that their parents aren't these all-knowing all-powerful beings that just get it all right, the first time, and the same goes for parents. Your kids don't come out perfectly mature mini adults they struggle and take time to grow.

Oh my God get over it. Your teenager said something to you that was hurtful, big surprise. She apologized and that's huge for a teenager, it sounds like she didn't have the full picture and maybe you should be more open with your daughter. Teenagers will say things to bother you And rarely do they learn and apologize right in front of you. So surprising that this mother can't get over it and wants to ignore her daughter
