@@samiram845 ikr?? It's the perfect balance between nostalgic melancholic dance!! Miles away, Devil wouldn't recognize you and voices are the album's perfect trio
Her reaction to Incredible killed me 😂😂😂 I don’t hate this album I actually really like it but I do agree that the songs do sometimes sound the same! My favorites are candy shop, 4 minutes, heartbeat, miles away, and beat goes on!
My reaction when it came out was pretty similar to hers lol but I did love 4 Minutes, Dance 2Night and the Paul Oakenfold Give It To Me remix though. Today I love the album, apart some tracks.
Hard Candy isn’t Madonna’s best, but to me it’s definitely still a good pop album. I think the issue was that Madonna found herself chasing a trend rather than being at the forefront as she usually had been. It sounded like she recorded the unreleased B-sides from Nelly Furtado’s “Loose.” Still, the songwriting is pretty good, so I find myself revisiting most of the songs on the album, unlike with MDNA 😅
Erm...your joking right? Half of the tracks on nellys loose album all get over 150k streams a day. Three of which get over 1 million a day. None of the songs on hard candy get over 100k daily....plus nelly has more listeners.... but i guess your delusional @@--Adam
Devil Wouldn't Recognise You is probably my favourite track on this album simply because it's different compared to all the Pharrell / Timbaland produced tracks.
I really like this album . It did sell over 4 million copies. I do agree that production held back some of these songs. Like “give it to me” and “miles away”
That was the beginning of Madonna's decline. 4 millions copies ww, only one hit that wasn't even that big... that's not good compared to Madonna's previous albums. And beside numbers, the quality man... it's one of her worst project with MDNA, especially the production choices.
@@andrewalvara1697 Confessions On A Dancefloor came after American Life and has been a massive success. American Life is her first major flop but not the beginning of her decline.
I really don't understand what was that special about Pharrell and Timbaland, two charlatans lol. They just applied the exact same ideas to dozens of songs, took their money and gone. As she says "they didn't even bother switching a few things". I totally agree with her comments on this album.
When she released four minutes the first thing I thought was wow anyone could’ve recorded the song and made it a hit. the first person I thought could replace her would be fergie. Then when the alsbum came out I was so disappointed. straight up a Pharrell album.
I finished this review, and I agree with you. I was so excited to hear that she was releasing a new album after Confessions on A Dance Floor. I was thinking that 4 Minutes would be a great dance track. Boy was I wrong! I remember that I would up being disappointed when this album came. It seemed like a cheap ploy (using Pharrell and Justin Timberlake) to give her a hit. To me honestly, this is where her innovation stopped. A lot of tracks sounded bland compared to what was out then. I remember having Mariah Carey, Robyns Album, and Kylie Minogue’s X in my iTunes list. Oh, don’t forget Lady Gaga came out right around this time. I just remember that Lady Gaga (at the time) was reminiscent of the old Madonna and people sort of gravitated to albums during this time. I remember seeing her video on the nightclub screen. It captured everyone’s attention. I think the timing of Hard Candy is what really hurt the album. I think that Miles Away and Give It To Me were pretty strong tracks. And she should have focused I. On those songs instead.
the 2000s was a rollercoaster. music was an electronica heavy album with stripped down stuff that would lead into american life. american life was angry, edgy, and very stripped down while having electronic sounds. confessions completely shifted and did disco and dance. and idk what happened when hard candy was being conceived..
@@ethypoo Yea, You know I remember that I was really excited when they promoted this album/video (4 minutes) at a dance club night at my college. I thought that it was going to be just as good as confessions or Britney spears' newest song at that time. A lot of people, honestly, wound being disappointed with the lead song. It seemed like a ripoff of Fergie (I remember that one of my frat brothers said that on the dance floor haha) at that time. I noticed that after that Madonna or Janet would never really come out with the hot new dance track. The torch had been passed lol.
@@yeahiprotest the 2000’s was a very strange era for madonna…first a very electronica driven album with western vibes and intricate production, then an album about american society that’s very underwhelming in terms of energy, then a beautiful disco influenced album with emotion, then a trend chasing album with more generic sounding music, it’s kinda weird to see how much she changed her directions within her albums.
ajayii’s possible ranking of the madonna albums she’s viewed BASED on ratios: 13. hard candy 12. mdna 11. american life 10. madame x 9. confessions on a dance floor 8. like a prayer 7. erotica 6. music 5. ray of light 4. bedtime stories 3. true blue 2. like a virgin 1. rebel heart ajayii’s possible ranking of the madonna albums she’s viewed based on her reaction 13. mdna 12. hard candy 11. american life 10. madame x 9. music 8. bedtime stories 7. erotica 6. true blue 5. like a virgin 4. confessions on a dance floor 3. like a prayer 2. rebel heart 1. ray of light
@@DjTrackcube i agree, i did this based on a ratio based on songs with a mark to songs without a mark and confessions was shockingly low. maybe she should’ve put a mark on let it will be and forbidden love and this would’ve been higher. but personally i think it would be 3-4
ranking the album tracks: 12. spanish lesson - 5.4/10 (this rivals i love new york for the stupidest lyrics she’s ever written) 11. incredible - 6.2/10 (this wasn’t a song for madonna’s fans, this was an experiment) 10. dance 2night - 6.9/10 (i probably would’ve liked this song more if it was performed live) 9. voices - 7.3/10 (i will say that they definitely improved it over the demo version) 8. she’s not me - 7.9/10 (they should have streamlined it a bit more and it would have been better) 7. heartbeat - 7.9/10 (i used to really dislike this song until i saw the tour performance so i can actually stand it now) 6. candy shop - 7.9/10 (pharrell but i can actually stomach him on this one because the song is kinda funky and makes me want to dance) 5. beat goes on - 8.1/10 (it’s a groovy song with expensive production which is kind of cool) 4. devil wouldn’t recognize you - 8.5/10 (another song that grew on me but it really had a lot to do with the live concert version which is so much better than the album version) 3. 4 minutes - 8.5/10 (i remember when i first heard this song, it stood out to me) 2. give it 2 me - 8.8/10 (i didn’t realize how much i liked this song until i started doing this ranking) 1. miles away - 9/10 (i wish it would have peaked higher on the usa charts riding on the coattails of 4 minutes and give it 2 me)
To be fair, I love new york is just a goofy but funny type of lyrics wich makes it "god damn mark"able, spanish lesson is goofy but in the cringey sense
I just wished Madonna didn't work with Timberlake, I hate how she made '4 Minutes' the lead single and not 'Give It 2 Me' although I'm impressed people and Ajay love 4 Minutes more than Give it 2 Me
@@Yan_8 the only bad song of the album tbh, she would've add 'Back That Up To The Beat' since it was trendy on tiktok. Definitely belong in the Hard Candy era
@@Madonna_QueenOfPop Truee, those years weren't taken seriously by Madonna musically wise, I wish I could turn back time and motivate her to make things better
With this album I stopped listening to Madonna's news. She's looking all over the place for the success she had in the past. Hopefully in 2023/4 she releases something amazing!
About Incredible: “the song starts no good…” it was same reaction I’ve had when I’ve listened for the very first time. My least favorite Madonna song by far, and yep, one of my least favorite albums. I agree with you all the time, gurl 😂❤
Hard Candy is one of my fav Madonnas album. First 2 listens of album is worst but every next listening of the album is much better. Then this is my most hated Madonnas album but now its on my top 5
Yeah it’s not as bad as people say. Even MDNA isn’t horrible, but it’s a downgrade to hard candy IMO. Tbh confessions in one of my least fav albums by m and I like hard candy 🤷🏻♀️
@@chris-mm8zl it’s called an opinion man, if she feels that album is a masterpiece let it be. Don’t shoot down someone’s love for a particular album. Music is beautiful regardless of how you personally perceive.
Well lets talk, coz Hard Candy is one of my favorites... 1. Erotica 2. Ray of Light 3. Hard Candy 4. Madame X 5. Confession On A Dancefloor 6. Rebel Heart 7. Music 8. American Life 9. Like A Prayer 10. Bedtime Story 11. MDNA 12. Like A Virgin 13. True Blue 14. Madonna
Well I find this list to be quite questionable, to me bedtime stories, erotica and true blue are her best albums by far. Rebel heart being her best album since confessions and mdna and hard candy being her worst ever.
Madonna's music is so wild, because she's a great lyricist, a great vocalist, but her production is so often just fucking *terrible*. Not even bad, just straight terrible.
In general, I love her critiques, but she is off-base here, missing the mark by the wide side of a barn... Hard Candy is a fun album... Certainly, taste is subjective to be sure...
@@sumbodysmiracle0326 Not really good argument, it's a grammar problem, not of how many people liked the comment, which by the way, I also liked in case you didn't notice , just found the choice of words amusingly confusing
I think that 4 minutes is the worst song from the album and from Madonna's discography. This album is very good but you have to listen to it few times to loved it❤
having timbaland & pharrell be the only producers was the problem. they made the album very repetitive because had such distinct sounds / styles that didn’t change during the 2000s
Hard Candy is definitely my least favourite Madonna album by a country mile. And yet, still a couple of keepers on it. But the general direction and production was 😬 It felt like, for the first time, instead of setting trends, she was following them because of how the industry views women over a certain age.
Incredible is a great song if you lost someone in your life… like a lover you want to get back with… the production is very crazy with the transitions but you will love it if you understand the song
Ajay has a point this album is so shity ‼️ trying to imitate the vocals of the back then sound and Pharrell ( i hate u ) its known for ruin the production of albums, if madonna just would have worked with Timbaland and Patrick Leonard this albumit might be another masterpiece of her but just Candy Shop, 4 minutes, Give It 2 Me, Miles Away, the first 4 minutes of Shes not Me, Beat Goes On and Dance 2 Night are the only good songs
Fun fact she was supposed to work with the Pet-Shop Boys but a legal dispute happened with Warner Bros. (Her label) and that fell through, but she should’ve worked with Pat Leonard like you said, The Pet Shop Boys, and Max Martin they would’ve done so much justice to this album, because even she said during the Hard Candy era that she was inspired by Pharrell, and Justin Timberlake, and Timbaland and you can tell smh, 🤦🏽♂️🤦♀️🤦😑😑😑, she should’ve put Across The Sky 🌌 on the album, and should’ve worked Pat, Pet-Shop Boys, and Max Martin she would’ve been a pop powerhouse with them but anyways, yeah…
This album was just embarrassing. She came out looking desperate af for a hit. Nelly furtado for the poor if you will. Her worst alongside mdna for me personally.
The thing about Ajay is that people enjoyed her reactions because of her energy and over the top reactions, yet at some point she started to take herself way too serious and thought people came here for her musical criticism and she started seeing herself as a legitimate music critic! Which she clearly is not, with a limited taste palette, vocabulary and very short attention span! Things turned sour … fast! Not that Hard Candy is Madonna’s best effort but the reaction she gave is just not it…
