This is my favourite Madonna album. I used to listen to it in repeat for months during a certain point in life. Till today I relate this this album so much. It's not for everyone, not a lot of people will understand it, but it really is one of the most profound albums of all time IMO.
American Life is my favorite album of hers! It's a fabulously and cohesively crafted concept album about American excess and materialism.😍😍😍😍 Probably the closest to socialist that Madonna ever got! (I'm a communist myself)

@Kurt Loder That’s not true because she likes a lot of Charli XCX’s stuff and some of Madonna’s experimental stuff, she just doesn’t like some of this and I can see why. Some of it can be messy/overbearing/weird to some people, but I don’t think she’s basic at all. And even if someone does only like “vocally/lyrically driven music” doesn’t make them basic. Someone could easily say that people who like electronic music are basic because it’s just done on a machine and not a real instrument so it doesn’t require talent.
Getting sick of having to explain this to people... autotune is making someone's voice/pitch sound better and shouldn't be noticed. Vocoder is an artistic choice to make your voice sound electronic.
Auto-tune is versatile and can be used for very subtle pitch correction, or turned all the way up for that signature robot-like sound. It often is used along with vocoder in songs like Cher's "The Music's No Good Without You," but songs such as T-Pain's "Buy You A Drank" sound that way just with heavy auto-tune. Ajay is correctly identifying auto-tune in this video. I think the misconception stems from Cher's "Believe" producer saying that he used vocoder for the iconic vocal effects, because he didn't want to reveal the little-known new software he was using known as auto-tune.
Autotune shouldn’t be noticed if it’s not used to the absolute max, if you do, it ends up kinda sounding like Cher’s Believe. Vocoder, though, is used to create artificial harmonies around the lead vocal, a great example of it is Imogen Heap’s Hide and Seek. Learn the difference between autotune and vocoder, please.

@@chris-mm8zl i did this based on the ratio of songs with marks to no marks and which percentages were higher but if it were based on her reactions i think confessions would get 3rd or 4th
@@Gabriel-qu5fb 100% hyper pop hyper pop is literally pop just experimental u guys just dont wanna admit when something's actually pop bc u dont think its cool
This was/is my favorite Madonna album. However, I know it’s one of her least acclaimed albums. I think the lyrics hit me at the right time. Loving to re-watch your vids!
When I was listen to I’m so stupid. I thought the same thing. I thought there was something wrong with my iPod lol 😂 She thought there was something wrong with her computer lol. 🤣🤣 I couldn’t agree more. Best reaction 4:02-4:10 from her on this album. That look is priceless 😳
I was never a big fan of Madonna‘s music and only knew her for her most popular songs like hung up , papa don’t preach etc but one day I stumbled upon love profusion and it reminded me of my childhood so I decided to listen to the whole album and oh wow … it was /is a masterpiece … such an interesting sound and very risky for such a popular persona/ singer ! The euro/electronic influence is very apparent but it’s done so beautifully that it ends up becoming a thing of its own … an amazing album
Ajaill, you are one of my favorite RU-vidrs, I love your expressions, I can't stop laughing with the faces you make while reacting to my favorite albums 😂😂😂
ranking the tracks: 11. i’m so stupid - 7.1/10 (i can definitely listen to this song every now and then but it’s definitely my least played from this album, that’s why i put it at #11) 10. mother and father - 8/10 (i like the intention of this song) 9. american life - 8.1/10 (even though this song has a really important message, the lyrics and production still feel very amateur and chaotic) 8. nobody knows me - 8.5/10 (i’m very surprised that this song wasn’t chosen to be a single) 7. hollywood - 8.5/10 (i don’t like how high pitched and childlike madonna sang her vocals during parts but overall i do like this song) 6. die another day - 8.8/10 (this was a great sneak peek into the album, and it showed a transition between music to american life) 5. intervention - 8.8/10 (i think this was a pretty cutting edge acoustic track on the album) 4. easy ride - 8.8/10 (i love this track musically) 3. love profusion - 8.8/10 (this is a lovely track) 2. x static process - 8.9/10 (another track i like plus i would’ve really liked this to be a single) 1. nothing fails - 9.4/10 (this is the best song on the album)
It's always so weird for me, someone whe's grown up in the 2000s listening to typical 2000s pop/electronic music, to see nowaday's youth react negatively to that kind of music. Because I truly ADORE it. I love that "sonically????" aspect of it
Got this album when it was released in 2003 when I was 19. Nothing Fails is LEAGUES above everything else IMO- it's wonderfully constructed, with the nice choir throwback to Like A Prayer. The others I appreciate are Hollywood, Intervention, X-Static Process, Die Another Day... but Nothing Fails soars beyond. It almost feels like it doesn't fit inside the rest of this album. Here are my feelings regarding this album sonically: The production / engineering / mastering are some of the more poorly-aged relics of the early-mid 2000s. There was a push at the time to create albums very loud, & very compressed. While it worked well for some genres (it sounds massive with rock), it doesn't feel right for her sound. It has a fatiguing quality to the listening experience, & I'm not sure if this was intentional. The extremely hard-panned instrumentation was such a... strange creative decision- & makes this album feel very disorienting. American Life is a prime example, as well as other acoustic-heavy tracks. I'll chime in on the auto-tune: I loved how she utilized it in Music. Here, it's starting to feel forced... and well, it will continue on with later releases. More and more. This is unfortunate, because a lot of these songs have extremely good potential... had they been produced & engineered differently. I strongly disliked this album for many years, but I've recently come back with fresh ears & a fresh mindset. However, I still find myself needing to take a break after 3-4 songs, due to those very aggressive sonic choices... that may or may not have been intentional. Lastly, I am very aware that this album is highly regarded by some of the M fandom... I want desperately to see it in the same way- & I have tried! My critique is coming from a place of love, & I want to articulate it as best as I can. I am a seasoned fan, having been a child when Immaculate was released, & having followed her step by step along the way since, all throughout the 90s, through Music, and then, here. I'm hoping we can perhaps one day get a newly mixed and/or mastered version of AL. We did just see the 20 year anniversary, & part of me hoped we'd see something like it this year. Perhaps another time, time will tell.
Like almost Indietronica from early to mid 2000s, nothing of this sounds really good, but it's not only the instrumentation, her voice sound awful, and really awful. I used to like as a teen, but since I grew up and listened to a lot of music, I can't see anything good in this.
American life as an album was not my favorite on first listen. 2nd listen i liked a couple of songs. 3rd listen i liked most of the album. By the 5th listen i was hooked. Its definitely a grower
Her mom passed away at 5 years old cancer and her dad kind of abused her she came out of 13 siblings,,,, her father and her have reconciled Amen 🙏She won an award for “ Masterpiece “
I'm sure no Madonna fan agree, but I think after The 90's Madonna started taking a looot of Björk elements 🤷🏽♂️🥲 but she couldn't get good critics for it.
Love Spent is my favourite song on MDNA, and there's a whole story to that song I could tell you about but it's a rarity in Madonna's discography. Masterpiece and Falling Free are outstanding tracks too.
She redid the video she became human because of 911 she released alit of videos one needs to look at the visuals to understand the lyrics,,, Die another day a James Bond movie,,,,, not a fan of certain songs are atrocious like I’m stupid lollll
Some of the songs on the album are great but some personally I think some have too much going on. I love Nothing Fails, Die Another Day, And X-static Process. Honestly the only song I can’t stand is American Life. I think the electro sound is so cool and that this album is underrated and overlooked. Wish she didn’t call it American Life or have that as a single since it’s the worst song on the album.
Please stop with that pretentious crap. People can not like this album. You’re so annoying for acting like anyone who disagrees “only likes traditional pop music”
@@EmilyTressa so true. Madonna went autotune since the album Music. Which is quite unfortunate. Her first seven albums were absolutely stunning 🤩 and had no autotune at all. I miss her real voice.
