I know no one wants to come down on the parents of the shooting, but let’s not forget; without the parents this lawsuit would never happen. I’ve been a part of class action lawsuits, and I can hear the lawyers talking to them in my head, “don’t you want to teach these companies how much you loved your kids?” “They have tons of money, don’t you want your family to live in comfort from now on?”, “we can teach the world that guns are bad”…and it’s never one law firm, they sought out my family over and over until my wife and I said yes. It’s been announced for their “League of Legends Hall of Fame” and Riot has already explained that the game still needs revenue but me personally, it’s just embarrassing and shameful. I'm still mocking all those journalists and RU-vidrs that cheered about how "the community" 'forced' Sony to back down on the whole "requiring a Playstation ID to play" thing for Helldivers 2. It just showed how little any of them understand legal liability. It was Sony's legal division that slapped the ever-loving crap out of some VP by pointing out that you can't knowingly sell a product in a market when you also know said market would be denied access to that product in the near future. The _only_ reasons Sony made an exception for Helldivers 2 was because they 1) didn't want to try to fight class action lawsuits in 100+ jurisdictions, most of which Sony has zero local legal representation and 2) offer mass refunds to everyone that bought the game in those markets.

I understand the hesitancy with skins and projectile animations. There’s a handful of times that some champions have had skins with different hitboxes than the original is supposed to be like, I believe underworld twisted fate card throw was larger than supposed to be.

There was a company a few years ago that did the same thing with a skin and people bought it. A lesser known game, MWO (Mechwarrior Online), back when Piranha games (PGI) was working with publisher IGP, they created a 'gold' mech skin for the Madcat/Timberwolf that was $500. Groups that bought the skin would get together and fight each other with the entire match 12 vs 12 with all gold skins.

For the CoD Lawsuit, it's more akin to the people suing the cigarette companies for Joe Camel for promoting kids to smoke back in the day. So it's not the problem of the games being the problem, it's the fact that the weapons are being advertised in a game that teenagers are playing. Which they shouldn't be playing as it's a Mature rated game of 17+ but they still play it. So it's not games are bad, it's the fact that the guns being advertised to kids to make them feel cooler is bad. Kinda like how they sued Camel cigarettes for advertising to kids to make them feel cooler.

Not going to lie, I'm rooting for the Ubisoft comeback that they're going for. There's been a clear change in the past two years of releases. I just need them to focus on diversifying their releases and get back to their original style. Beyond Good and Evil 2 looked like the coolest thing I saw in a long time. Hopefully something eventually happens with that.

I'm pretty sure Valve stuff like Dota 2 and CS:GO probably have more expensive stuff if you are counting things like the The International Battle Pass for high level stuff or stuff sold on the markets by other players but I think that might be a different category though. If this was priced at about say $30(without pass)/45/100/200 for the Ahri skin, it would be way more reasonable and arguable, but to have it be FOMO and priced at $50/300/500 is completely insane and out of touch. For $500, there should be an actual Ahri statue you get along side with it! And what pisses me off the most, is that this is being done in Faker's name, a man who is incredibly nice, humble, and who has turned down blank checks from China to stay with his home and team, complete irony (I guarantee NDA's were signed). Lastly, since the day it was revealed, no Rioter who was behind this has said anything regarding the pricing and the community backlash to it (Ahri mains have decided to join with others to ban her in every game so no one can play with it if they did decide to buy it). What a shitshow.

You can tell how the long development times are because of the time it takes to create those graphics, systems, macrotransaction content and constant shift of vision that now all those team shooters are coming out in a time no one seems to care. I paid $30 for Elementalist Lux back in the day and that skin has most of the features this $500 skin has. I can’t even fathom buying it even if you play a lot of Ahri. It’s one thing to pay $30 for a character you play a lot but $500?! Even $300 is too much.

I play League a few times a week with family and the Ahri skin prices really are outrageous. I really like getting cosmetics in games and Riot is pretty expensive but it's also doable to get most of the time. Most skins are between 5-30 dollars/euros, depending on the various quality tiers. This time they've gone too far though, by introducing that Ahri skin which is a ''new tier'' above ultimate, which was previously the highest tier skin. It's complete bullshit though. The cheapest bundle of 50 dollars is a legendary League tier skin at best, which normally costs 20 dollars. But they still advertise it as the ''highest tier'' of skins. It's really just a scam. You see it all the time in gacha games and lootbox stuff where the target audience for these things are the gambling addicts and people with spending problems, or just the plain rich. They're exactly doing that with these skin prices here too. It's sad to see microtransactions become this, but I suppose it's been growing out of control for a long time now. There's still a chance they'll change it after all this backlash but I have no hope for it. Anyways, fun fact: There's a bit of a movement going on where anyone who plays league should ban Ahri, so the people who buy it can't play her. Make sure to spread that forward and do it yourself too. Thanks for the news updates, I always really enjoy these.

Gotta love the fact they didn't do more than read the sensationalism on the shooting lawsuit and are spreading false information. The parents are not blaming video games for the shooting. They're blaming the way Activision is using the marketing to make gun ownership look cool to teens. They are literally suing these companies not for the video game, but for the marketing practices. It's an attempt to get real guns out of video games. This is an entirely different angle on the usual 'video game' bad, but sure, go off.
