@AkOperatorsUnion ★ I had to use the option for commenting under one of your replies on my phone. There was no way to enter a comment the usual way. Anyway, subscribed. Great videos. Thank you!
Great Video Rob. I'll admit, it had never crossed my mind to set up a plumb line at a distance to help level the reticle. I've done levels on the rifle and on the scopes, but your method may be easier. Going to give it a try.
Thank you so much! I had asked on the ak subreddit, all I got was abuse. I emailed Primary Arms, at first they had no idea what I was talking about, then they told me to level off the optic mount. Thank you for helping the community.
Congratulations on your upgraded website. Looks great. I'll miss the classic style HTML though! Would love to see more options in 'Apparel' in the future. A ripstop tactical cap (no button top) would be nice, or AKOU boxer briefs... Hah.
Awesome video and definitely helped me. I didnt have one of those barrel levels so i just used my small standard level and set it on the reciever closest to the chamber and leveled the rifle that way. Once i had the rifle level i clamped it in place and leveled the scope as well
Thank you for correctly explaining how to level the scope to the human. Ergonomics are key. Most of the internet video gun folks are idots. Nice to see a "tactical type" guy who does it right!
Fun fact, I never noticed that the front sight was crooked on my Hungarian ak until I installed a red dot😅 Jóska bácsi in the factory might had too much pálinka that day while assembling my rifle 😂 he compensated by adjusting the front sight post way to the left 😅
As it just so happens, I went through all of this with my 1-6 a few weeks ago lol. 💀 Technically already zeroed it, but now I must go back and double check things.
It really doesn't matter that much unless you plan adjusting your windage by dialing it in instead of using your reticle for windage. The only time I have seen it be an issue was on an old tapco mount on a wasr. The scope was so far off center from the bore that the scope being used didn't have enough windage adjustment to actually zero the rifle. This matters much more on precision rifles
Gas block has to be amazing I don't see the usual plumes of gas coming out that suppressor I noticed it's a newer model suppressor has that TRI thing around the hole
Hi Rob thank you for all your work here, it has been invaluable to me and so many others. If you are one of those people who have installed a railed top cover (hinged, Midwest Industries style), is it a good idea to use a pic rail mounted level on the top cover together with the levels you have in the video, and use the flashlight trick? Thank you again
I can't believe I'm actually going to be able to offer a better way than the master of AKs Rob! To make sure the crosshairs are leveled, I remove the dust cover and bolt. Then I put the mount with scope on it. Then I use a 2" level tube and seat it across the reveiver under the mount. The other level will seat on top of the turret. when both are centered, I know the crosshairs are centered as well. It never fails!😉
Hi, no, that's not a good idea actually. Reason is, your scope reticle may not be centered to the scope housing...happens more often than you think even on premium scopes...also, remember your mount maybe tilted (incorrectly installed side rail by the manufacturer of the rifle)
Best way to mount optic on AK is to buy Galil Ace and mount optic… or buy different AK and wait two years for correct RS Regulate lower to become available.
Did you drill and use the stake pins they provided? I can’t imagine pounding them in with out damaging something. I wish a least one video covered that before I bought one. Leaving it on the rifle seams questionable. The side rail is riveted. I hoping using blue loctite is enough.
In this case, you have to take what rifle offers you and hope that side rail was installed by the manufacturer correctly...not much wiggle room. If you will notice that scope is canted, way to mitigate this would be by shouldering your rifle to keep it straight.
It's like Rob said: you take what you have with that type of optic and mount. If you can zero, it's good to go (outside of hyper precision use) and you'll use the bdc like normal.
I put an LPVO on my C39V2 in order to figure out where it was shooting when I mounted. I literally had to walk up and shoot at 10 feet and found out it was shooting very high and far right on paper then I made adjustments and shot from 100 yards .5 inch groups...😊
Is it "bad" to push the scope (pa 1-6 sfp) forward against the scope ring to the point the ring is touching the erector housing? I had to do this to get ideal eye relief the other day. Can't find definitive info on this outside of its not ideal for scopes you plan to dial with due to the possibility of messing up parallax or other turret adjustments. I dont believe the scope ring is clamping onto the sloped edge of the housing. Just mounted the scope yesterday, glad you released this video today before i go to the range lol
Great Tips - Thanks for sharing! BTW, I saw the grease trick for the optic mount on a separate AK Local 47-74 video and it did the trick with the RS Regulate Mount. Anyone know which LPVO he is using.
What’s the best 45 degree offset mount for a 3x24/rmr setup when using a RS regulate low mount for the ACOG? Anybody got any good ideas on the best way to offset the dot??? It’s way too high on top of the ACOG. Also using a MI alpha front rail but I’m afraid the heat will ruin the RMR if I put it up there. Not much info out there on this particular setup.
To level your scope crosshairs to your rifle get a long Allen key, put a rubber band on it and slide the Allen key onto the flats of your picatinny rail and loop the rubber band under the rifle & back onto the Allen key. make sure the Allen key is sitting flat on the picatinny rail with the Allen key short end pointing up & get back behind the scope & align the cross hairs with the Allen key horizontal & vertical planes and hey presto. Best thing since sliced bread.
Dusty, no, that's not good idea. Reason is, your scope reticle may not be centered to the scope housing...happens more often than you think even on premium scopes...
@@AkOperatorsUnion You are lining up the optical view on both the reticle & key to the flats of the rail which should be horizontal to the bore, The turrets inputs will move that image accordingly. The method works just fine long range on my Remington .308W 5R with Leupold Mark4 M3 TMR & Remington PSS .223 with Leupold VX3 scope & others. Even on reticle moving scopes the reticle crosshairs remain horizontal & vertical but may move in the image in the tube.
@@dustyfarmer Dusty, I'm not going to argue with you, but even assuming that your scope is made correctly (scope housing is flat and scope manufacturer did his job and reticle is perfectly leveled to the scope housing), remember your side rail maybe tilted on the gun (incorrectly installed by the manufacturer of the rifle)...that also happens more often than you think.
@@dustyfarmer Already bought 2 AK mount rails that were canted. That is why now I seat a level across the top of the receiver. I know the receiver is perfectly horizontal, so I use that as a reference.
@@AkOperatorsUnion I'm not leveling off the scope housing, I'm visually matching the level of the rail or top of the receiver to the level of the cross hair with the Allen key as a reference.
Yes. Here: either this model (choose Yugo) ak4774.com/product/ak-master-mount-optic-mount/ or this model (like in the video, choose 307 and AKR upper): ak4774.com/product/rs-regulate-lower-optic-mounts/ AKR upper: ak4774.com/product/rs-regulate-upper-optic-mounts/
