I keep watching for a Regulate mount set for my Yugo M70. Still out of stock. Really want to mount a P/A 3x prism scope (also out of stock) Maybe 1 day, lol. 😁 Thanks Rob. Your time here is much appreciated 👍👍 EDIT. The RS Regulate website doesn't have any either, and has been out for a long while. Rob, is there any other mount made for M70's ?
Mind if I ask you AKOU about a Romanian Intrac MKII 5.45x39 AK? I found one a few days ago for $620 basically new. The action parts hadn't even been worn shiny yet. Sights are straight, trigger is nice and doesn't really get in the way of the carrier. Pulling back on the charging handle gives the sensation of smoothness. Just wanted to see what you know about them. Thanks!
@@Patriotusa44 Have you searched the inter-tubes? lol to see what they say? I'm no expert but I know even when they're in stock, wasr's are fetching $900.00. I know, different gun. But all I can say is if you followed what he said on this video, seems like a bargain. If I was in a free state, I'd snatch it up!
@@dgunearthed7859 I did buy it and I've been looking online for some info. There's some but not alot. I don't know what twist rate this thing is. One place said roughly 1/7. I just wanted to see what AKOU might know of them.
@@wldtrky38 I was in the same situation a few months ago with my own NPAP. RS stuff was out of stock and I didn't want to wait. So I decided to go with the Texas Weapon Systems Gen 3 Dogleg mount Yugo version. $177 and all the reviews I've seen on the TWS mount is very good. Honestly I think I might prefer over a side mount because when you have to clean your gun, you must remove the side mount, potentially screwing up your zero. The TWS simply unlatches and pivots upwards. There's a pin that can be removed if you want to take off the mount completely. I like that. Russian special forces were running it and said it worked for them in a video by Larry Vickers.
Man, imagine how shittier of an experience owning an AK in America would be if it wasn't for Rob Ski. Thank you Rob for your service and years of educating the masses.
My AK attracts older people at the range who keep lecturing me on how the AK was used as a frontline spray and pray weapon for the simple Soviet soldier. I just stand there and politely wait until they're done.
It happens bro. Some older folks look at an AK and it triggers flashbacks from all that LSD they took in the 60s/70s, and they see visions of Cold War era scares like the paratrooper invasion at the beginning of Red Dawn. You are handling it the right way...just let them finish and get back to shooting. It’s part of the AK ownership experience.
It’s a bad time to buy. However, K-VAR still has some Arsenal SLR 107Rs for sale @ $1149. If you can afford it, those are excellent import AKs. I’m always passively looking and haven’t found any WASRs or Zastava rifles available at this moment, but I’m sure you can find one if you look hard enough.
PSA posts new GF3’s almost every day. For $649 and a lifetime warranty that is your best bet for now, unless you pay double for the Arsenal 107R. My PSA is as nice as any I’ve ever owned, and I had an Izhmash Arsenal SGL-21 (which I stupidly sold). Atlantic also has WASR’s for $899, but I like dimples.
$900 for a wasr is insane. Don’t believe me look on Atlantic firearms site. Prices are going up and will most likely stay there. I hope to god I’m wrong tho.
I know in north Florida everything in is inflated price wise for pistols, and rifles. Budget AR’s are $900 and so are AK’s. Might want to stick with palmetto state when they’re in stock
Right! I got an akm because beto told me I cant, didnt realize what I got myself into. Now i love the rifle even more than my ar. Not to mention the price difference in ammo.... I'm hooked, and have debated selling my ar for more mags and ammo lol. The accuracy is not bad at all either, double tap clay pigeons at 100 meters at 210 dollars for 1000 rounds you cant go wrong
Given how difficult it was to even find one, I'm expecting it to be the most satisfying firearm purchase to date. Every AR buddy would say that I can get one cheaper and readily available at every shop. All true, but damnit, I got more motivated to hunt one down and thank you PSA for restocking every few days and finally snagged one. Arrives in a few days. Best of luck to those still searching!
@@travishabursky4362 Glad you're having fun! I get mine in two days. And same, it'll be a bit tough to head to a range. I'm in AZ and it's stupid hot but I'll manage. I got to try it out
Rob I bought an Ak because you honestly convinced me. I was half and half about it for months. Thought I’d buy another AR, maybe another Glock. But after finding this channel, my decision was made a week later. Gf3 gang
A few years ago, I bought a used Saiga (unconverted) in 5.56 NATO from someone I know. This channel has been a great resource for learning about the AK. I also own multiple ARs, so I can say that I'm bi-rifle. I swing both ways.
Nice info! I spoke to you Rob on my Riley Defense. It was made very well. However out of the box (2020 production rifle) it was having feeding issues. Turned out to be a bad extractor claw. I sent it back to Riley and they inspected it and fixed it and sent it back within a week! They even sent me a free mag, free cleaning kit and free muzzle brake. After I got it back, I installed magpul furniture on it and it looks and feels right. I’m close to 500 rounds. Not one single malfunction whatsoever of any kind now. Thank you for your help and advice, Rob!
Always had an affection for the AK platform. Have owned and traded them during the past 30 years. My first was a SAR-1, I've owned WASR 10, MAK 90, NHM 91, VEPR, and a few others. I do love my AR's also. My favorite right now is the hybrid PSA KS 47 carbine. I've been hitting steel out to 400 yards. Optics are primary arm's 1-6x24 acss with 300/7.62x39 BDC. Running wolf 124gr FMJ Poly P. 1000 rounds down the pipe with zero malfunctions. Rifle is super accurate. Last month I found a new Riley defense RAK 47 pistol on GunBroker and picked it up for 675.00. got lucky because AK inventory is scarce. Actually wanted a carbine so I converted it by adding an Ace folding pigtail adapter and an Ace 9 inch Minimalist stock. To make it legal added CNC warrior 5.5 inch Draco barrel extension and of course pinned and welded it to keep the ATF Happy. Furniture replaced with Hogue in Ghillie green. Optics Mount is Midwest industries side mount topped off with an old Millet SP1 red dot I had sitting in my safe. Runs great so far. Using standard Magpul AK mag's. I do have a primary arm's 3X prism scope on order. Been watching your videos on Riley defense and took a chance, so far no failure's or complaints. Only have shot the Riley at 100 yds so far but once I get the prism scope on Will be airing it out. Although not my favorite the KS 47 and the RAK 47 are towards the top of my list. My top rifle is a PSA AR in 6.5 Grendel. 18 inch stainless barrel, free float rail, Hera CRS stock and topped off with a SWFA super sniper fixed 10x. I run wolf 100gr Grendel ammo in it. It's a tack driver. I've shot it to 500 yds so far and have no problem hitting a 12x18 steel plate. I run Wolf ammo in all my rifles including my AR 10 and 15, never had any issues. Lucky gunner did a 10,000 round test of wolf on the AR platform and that showed me running steel case ammo is not an issue. Yes you will see premature barrel wear around 7000 rounds but money I save on ammo allows me to just rebarrel when needed. Love your channel, keep up the great work. Senior Chief USN RET OATHKEEPER
Basic info, thank you for your insights. Your always devoted to 2A and AK. I watch the majority of these videos that you put out there. I share the same passion for Ak type rifles/pistols.
A couple of personal notes to new AK owners. 1. If you get a WASR, it will be filled with metal shavings that will need to be cleaned out. Those shaving are from when the formerly single stack magwell was widened out to a double stack profile. I have no clue why Century didn't even try to clean them out. 2. It's quite possible to insert the magazine incorrectly at first. If you don't insert the nose in far enough, and then still rock it back, the nose can slip out of the magwell while the locking ledge still gets locked into the mag catch. To rectify this, simply push the mag catch to release the magazine. It may require more force than usual to release. Just push harder. Good luck with your new AK.
I wish you would have made a video like this when you started out. Luckily I had a little common sense LOL. Watching you over the years have been a joy showcasing and properly promoting thes platform. Thanks to you I got lucky and got a well made Egyptian Maadi years ago and have been quite happy with it. Only regrets is no optic mount. Only AKM I Have seen that with metal magazine there is almost zero wobbliness. God bless good day and happy 4th of July from western Pa. Hope to see you in person someday before I get too old to get around.
Did I just hear you say “extreme retard strength?” OMG, I’m extreme retard laughing right now. Great 101 video in case someone has missed one of your hundreds of other awesome tutorials. Yep, this is the way. 👍
5:11 well, actually ak stocks were designed to be firmly held on even without screws. That's because this way the recoil vibrations are not absorbed too much by the screws and they don't loosen up. Infact very often if you stock wobble even a bit when it's without screws you will get your screws loosened after less than 100 rounds. The stock basically needs to be hammered in very tight and with friction.
Just enjoy the reliability of the Rifle.. cant stand a gun that malfunctions due to needing cleaning. It's like having a truck stop running because it gets too muddy.
It's always great to see a notification from RobSki. I hit the like button before it even starts playing. It would be great to train with the Union someday!!
It would be great to have a “AK - what time expect at the range” video that discusses accuracy, quirks to be aware of, common field issues & how to correct them, etc
I just wanted to thank you Rob. Thanks to you, I was able to get myself a decent AK (wasr). My AR is still my go to in the event of shtf, but that wasr is my backup.
But the honestly that the coolest thing about the AK is simple to work on for most part and be safe and not to mention most everything you need to work on them is in the cleaning kit that comes with cleaning rod simple keep it simple old shop teacher taught me that cool videos thanks
Maybe a video for a rifle choice for economic unrest will be cool. Like AR vs AK etc. Not sure if you have done it before. Just got my hands on a 2019 Built Saiga .308 V46 from russia and I love it.
Long time ago I broke in my barrel cleaning most of the copper out after every shot for 5 or so then every one or two round for around 15 or more rds. I like to think that's why it shoots 400m steel nicely. I look at it as not breaking in any barrel from new doesn't give you the best results. But what do I know. I'm just a retired guy now :)
Before I started building my own AK's, my first one was a GP1975. I could set a BZO for 35 yards on it, push the target back 10 yards and the new impact will be about an inch to the left. Elevation remained the same. Push it back 20 yards, 2 inches left, so on and so on. I wound up pushing out the stock barrel and replacing it with an aftermarket Whindam Weaponry made barrel and now my POI is rock solid.
I have found that the tiny lever for removing the lower hand guard can be moved much easier if you fit an empty casing over it. You would probably bend the casing before breaking the part. Great video as always. Very informative even for those of us who have been around the AK platform for years. большое спасибо за информацию.
the tube that contains the cleaning kit also has slits in the sides that allow it to fit over the gas tube and lower hand guard levers. Use it to pry them (gently) up.
Rob, you should have added which wear points to examine on the bolt, carrier and rails/trunnions. And what might constitute excessive wear for those. Viewers can watch many of your previous videos for these inspections I suppose. At my local GS, the salesperson will field strip the firearm and let you inspect it. I always check the barrel from the breech end.
A bit of advice, if you’re at a store and you want to field strip whatever weapon they hand you to check out, always ask first. I’ve seen plenty of instances where staff or managers asked people not to disassemble weapons after they were handed it. It’s just common courtesy.
I have found none of these issues-on my 8 year old Veprs. Lol. Heavy but well built and reliable as sheet.Purchased couple weeks before Sandy Hook School shooting. Slant cut receiver. One 762x39 one 308. Both delivered for less than $475.00 ea. Unbelievable how they’re hosing folks now.
Tried sighting in my new Yugo Underfolder at 25 yards. Windage is good but elevation is about 5-inches low. I was hoping I could get the front post adjusted with some needle nose pliers, but that didn’t work. Patiently waiting for you to get the sight adjustment tool back in stock. Good video. Some stuff I never look at when buying.
The wobble in the piston and magazine well is necessary especially if the rifle is not perfectly aligned so the piston does not rub and the full magazine does not apply too much pressure on the bottom of the bolt carrier which in turn can mess up the feed lips on your magazine (it gets worse if you have polymer magazines - broken feed lips).
I a 100% certain that the term "retard strength" is a direct translation from a com-bloc manual of arms. Great vid Rob, very welcoming to the newbies. And just the right touch of warning of self-extinction. Peace, brother.
I think that you skipped a very important step. First go to your channel and look at each of the 5000 round videos for the AK rifles that you have reviewed. If they passed then you can add them to your shopping list.
Be careful even when it’s an Arsenal, my SAM7 SF had a gas block canted literally 15-20 degrees to the left. If you buy these online especially check no matter who the manufacturer is, before you take possession
I don't have it anymore but the c39v2 I could push the front sight drum left to right with my fingers 😬 between that and the bolt chewing itself up by 7 to 800 rounds I got rid of it. Lesson learned.
Warranty claim... century doesn’t know what that is, even when they put a 5.56 barrel on a 5.45 rifle and it keyholes every shot. At least they did a good job on the vz2008 but I’ll never give them another dime after they still refuse to warranty my tantal.
