Don't know how I missed this last year, but I'm glad I eventually found it. Just learned something new with that instant track mute gem. Thanx for that, will definitely come in handy and help make my workflow more efficient.
It really is.. I had the Live but upgraded for the X and those extra butttons and knobs, muchhhh more inviting. I use it all the time, it's also my audio interface.
What a cool little workaround! No need to switch between different screens to mute stuff, you can just play around on this one view. Very cool, thanks a lot! Helps solving a puzzle for me.
Killer!! It’s a small deal but a big deal. I wanna try this by hooking up my Launchpad to my Live and using its 64 pad layout. Thanks for the video man!
Very helpful, I’m getting used to the MPC workflow and terminology and trying to figure out the best way to record an external synth into the MPC. It seems like the looper is a great option. I’m still not sure the exact different uses of clips vs audio tracks, the loops aren’t saved as audio tracks then?
Good video. Where I get confused is audio tracks. Say seq1 has a track aud1, I copy seq1 to make seq2 which has aud1 in it. Can I clear aud1 from seq2 to record more without deleting aud1 from seq1? I can record separately to aud2 in seq1 and to aud2 in seq2. That's probably as clear as mud but if you've come across this, hopefully you'll know what I mean.
you can delete the actual events within your audio tracks and record more, but if you actually delete the track it will just remove the whole track. So you can have Audio Track 1 on Seq 1, then on Seq 2 in Audio Track one you would just clear/remove the audio from the track, so that Track 1 would be empty. Then you can record more audio there.
Hi. How do you set one clip to mute the other 15 pads in clip mode? So 4 drum clips in grp 1, 4 bass clips in grp 2, 4 guitar clips in group 3, 4 break clips each mute everything except for themselves.
When mute is instant, can you do crossfader effect, like a fast mute/play sequence between that mimic the crab scratch or whatever gating effect you want to reproduce?
Depends on what you want to do, you can go deep into editing, adding lfos, layering, velocity switching, adding fx, filtering, adjusting envelopes, etc. But everyone wants different things so just depends on what you mean by good, and what you look for when designing/manipulating sounds.
@@SoundsAndGear Thanks for the responding to my question. Would it have the sampling capabilities like lets say the octatrack, or is that comparing apples or oranges?
@@ronaldeatman6603 No problem. It's not an Octatrack, they have different approaches. You'd have to research each one to see what features you want in a sampler.
Yo man quick question what’s your opinion on what size hard drive to add to mpc live? What do you have if anything in the way of an sd card or hard drive
@@blackadondemory It's been years for me, I don't buy a lot of samples these days. I tend to be more into expansions and libraries for specific platforms.
Thanks for watching! I only use the looper for certain things, not quite where I want it for my workflow, be smooth if they automatically went to clips lol.
SoundsAndGear by the way, I always enjoy your videos but yeah honestly that’s the missing piece is having it be a clip but I’ll leave you this link because if you prepare your “Loops” program with this single strategy first, it works exactly the same. I know you are into alternative workflow so if it works for you, cool. Let me know what you think. Peace my friend ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O3ChXlQ2yLQ.html
