Welcome back Akira Bike Project fans! In this video I build a complete engine test stand and get the CX500 engine up and running.
Follow along while I'm designing and building a fully functional high performance recumbent motorcycle inspired by Kaneda's ride in "Akira" in this ambitious motorcycle project.

U remember that noise from when my exhaust header bolts snapped off on one side and I wanted to hear what it sounded like with no pipes

This was good to see after following since 2012, checking in periodically here and there. I have been working on a e-bike design myself the past year, the steering is a major headache.

Thanks! and thanks for sticking around and checking in on the project. Making great progress this year but everything is a headache lol. Are you making an electric motorcycle or bicycle? recumbent or upright?

@@matus1976 ...I like to call it a stealth recumbent e-cycle. Welding a custom aluminium frame up with carbon fiber parts for shell stuff. I have dual hub motors and a mid drive bafang M620... I might have an issue with that cuz its a 1000w and the hub motors are 3000w (I'm told the controller I have can run them safely). Once I get it together, I will have to do some test rides to see how far & fast it can go. I wan't range over speed but all the motors might not give me the efficiency I'm after. The wheels I have are non traditional for recumbent's being 26x4.0, I also have aquired some aluminium deep dish moon disc's for wheel covers. This will let me have some LED-Neon wheel lighting : ) that will be controllable from my tablet docked near the handle bars. I'm not knowing what to do about the front fairing shield.

@@jack-spade5647 sounds like an awesome build! So you have a hub motor in each wheel and another motor? Plan on doing any videos or build logs? I'm sure many of my viewers would be interested in your build too. Are you doing a more typical steering with linkages or something like the under the seat steering? The front fairing and windshield will be a challenge for me as well, I have a few ideas in the works.

Iv been thinking about doing exactly what your building for ages now what your doing sounds amazing I'd love to see the finished project when your done especially with duel hub motors 🔥🔥🔥

Hey Matus, you have some really interesting videos here! I appreciate your subscribing and have reciprocated. I will be making some videos of my recumbent motorcycle project soon as I wrap up fabrication on the other cycle project. Best wishes and I look forward to more of your videos

omg running with no exhaust at all is a horrible idea. That reversion and heat will beat the hell out of those heads real fast. At least fab a pair of headerpipes that have a 90 degree away from the engine or something like that so the exhaust pulses arent slapping back on the valves and valve seats. If I were you, before I got to tuning, I'd be getting the engine mounted and full exhaust system you want done, then pull it out and tune it. The exhaust you put on it in the end will change the tuning parameters. I'd love to see this bike in person when its done.

Oh yup, totally, I feel ya, well aware of the resonances and pressure waves in the intake and exhaust tracks, running an engine without a proper intake and exhaust horrifies me, lol. This was just to get it turned on and see if it runs on it's own, I never ran it more than a minute or two, monitored the head temps by hand and with a laser thermo, and never revved it up more than a little (just to make sure there was a throttle response). This video also doesn't have the electric fan yet so it had no active cooling either. I've since added the stock downpipes and some after market mufflers to run it a little longer, but not much point in fine tuning yet until I fabricate the exhaust I'll use on the build. I have a hollow scrap engine in the frame and I'll design and fab the exhaust with that in place, then move it to the test stand. I also built up a 4" exhaust vent that routes outside, though I think that still builds up too much back pressure. I'm not sure how I feel about those pod filters and dropping the airbox either, given all the intake resonance and tuning done by the design team, but alot of cafe racer builders have had decent results on the dyno with rejetting and pod filters on cx500s and it's damn hard fitting that airbox in the build with everything going on. I think I'm still on track to get this rideable this summer, definitely welcome to check it out when I do!

You should invest in an ultrasonic cleaner. Those clean carbs to almost factory new.
@matus1976
@matus1976 2 года назад
Yeah I really should, I've heard everything from they don't do anything at all to they are amazing magic so I was a little skeptical of how well they work, but the science seems sound. I take it they've worked well for you?
@Badenhawk

@@matus1976 I'm saving up for one, I'd like a 3L or bigger but will probably settle for the 2L from harbor freight. I've heard from people who clean carbs for a living that they are amazing and clean out the small air ports that normally are very difficult to clean and effect performance.

@@matus1976 I really like Brick house builds, he has like a large 3 Gallon one and he uses it for any part that will fit in there.
