About Married with Children:
The less-than-lovable Bundys are a radical departure from the saccharine-sweet TV families popular since the days of Father Knows Best. With offbeat humor and unflinching honesty, Married... paints a more realistic picture of middle-class existence, warts and all. Al Bundy (Ed O'Neill) is a shoe salesman who is fond of frequently reliving his doubtful 15 seconds of fame on the football field. Al is terrified of the all-too-frequent amorous advances of his ditsy wife Peggy (Katey Sagal), who spends most of Al's wages at the salon and the mall. They have two teenage kids: stunning but superficial party animal Kelly (Christina Applegate) and egocentric Bud (David Faustino). Married for 16 semi-blissful years, Peggy and Al have found that the secret to a happy marriage is to accept one another's idiosyncrasies.

@@atranfanatic I wonder what that standard is. I've seen a number of toilets in the U.S. and they were pretty much struggling with a little bit of substance. Unlike here in the Netherlands. I clogged many toilets during my visits of the U.S. and i found it annoying. But then again, maybe i needed to do something different than what i was used to. I would love to be informed ;-)

With my Kohler toilet, even though it's normally 1.6 gallons, I adjusted the tank plumbing enough it now uses a hell of a lot more than 1.6 gallons. Because like Al Bundy, I want my toilet to have a real MAN'S FLUSH, damn it!

This episode had the greatest joke in MWC history: Peg gets jealous of all the love Al gives his new toilet and demands, "What does that toilet have that I don't?" Then Al barks at her, "A JOB!!!"

Encourage the people you love when they share the things that bring them joy. They are trusting you as a safe place to confide their raw feelings. Vulnerability isn't reserved for when people feel down, but also that you do not tear them down when they share their ups- especially if those ups are rare.

The best part is Al Bundy is not a bad person; he is actually a really decent man. Look at how AL treated Peg when her lazy ass actually cooked and cleaned for him. Al treated Peggy like a queen. Al also busts his ass to provide for his family. They were wrong to mock him at every turn.

A man's toilet has an oblong bowl with an open-end toilet seat, not a round bowl with a round donut toilet seat. Round bowls are for chicks, kids and saving space. Oblongs are for dudes. Don't believe me? Try the handicapped toilet when you're in a store... they're friggen awesome!

Al should've lived in the Netherlands. Our toilets make that "baaa, whooosh". Many years ago i was in the U.S. and i realized how lucky we are over here when it comes to toilets. I don't know why it is, but the only toilets i found in the U.S. were hardly able to flush anything substantial ;-)

He still had his second bathroom later in the series (though it would move to the opposite side of the garage). I would assume there are times when he doesn't feel like going all the way downstairs to the garage to use his bathroom. He might also do it to discourage Peg from making the upstairs bathroom "her bathroom".
