What is fun about this is, Zepp, in the past, was inspired by old blues singers, and played extracts from their riff. Now, it's this kind of band that play some Zepp their way, like Zepp is now such an essential classic in rock blues pop kind of music, and band like Alabama Shakes have the sound and feel to play their own version. Like we say in french: "Chapeau"!
HOLY CRAP! My favorite Zeppelin song by one of my favorite current Rock groups... This is how you cover a Zep song and make it yours. By the hammer of the gods they are awesome.
to me, its like the type of music you can old school rock out and jump around to and its so SOULFUL and reliable that u no its gona b gud but at the same time experimental...and i think it was a brave choice of them to keep their sound the way they wanted in a time when its not a sure thing a younger generation would have open ears for it as its not the typical music played in dance clubs but its so great, its appealed to all ages! Makes me wanna do somethin like this!
Any guitar nuts know what that red guitar is on the pic? Love this band, they could make a Zep cover album and it would be great but their own stuff is brilliant so they won't I'm sure.
Hey @hagtants, Led Zeppelin had more original songs than you claim they have. Now their songs are being covered by other people. No need to call people idiots here
HOLY FREAKIN SHIT!!!!!!!! This is awsome. I am a die hard Zeppelin fan and this the best cover I have heard in a long time. If you have not bought the shakes album yet what are you wating for? Great new band that rocks!
So far I have heard ppl referring to her as sounding of course Janis, Van Morrison, Joe Cocker Chuck Berry. She has my vote. She dont shake they earthquake and its a great one.
Their WIKI page says they started out experiementing with PROG. I'd love to hear that! ROUGH TRADE have all the best artists these days*. *exaggeration with some truth
Actually Bigpink stole the hell fire line from Steven Tyler. He said it on American Idol. I agree with ya though about the bands you mentioned. I'd like to add Wolf Mother to that list too, plus Monster Truck and The Sheep Dogs.
How Many More Times is a song that Zeppelin covered themselves from Howling Wolf - not exactly a song that only a few people have covered or have covered well. It's a Blues standard.
when the groove first kicked in, it sounded like a Howlin Wolf song, then i realized it's a Zeppelin song... which means it PROBABLY IS a Howlin Wolf song! can anybody help me out with which Howlin Wolf song this reminds me of ??
You're not way off. It is a similar style, just with a different tempo. Not sure why so many people disagreed....it was neither way out in left field nor insulting.
