That whole Iran conversation doesn’t surprise me too much. Iran was practically a first world country before the revolution. Seriously look up photos on google, everyone is dressed in modern(for the time) fashion and looks happy. There are even photos of women at the beach in one piece and two piece bathing suits like you’d find here in the States. It’s genuinely really sad how things went so bad so fast.

Is the Genesis version really considered the better version of this game? It definitely has much prettier and smoother sprite work (which I think was ACTUALLY done by Disney themselves) then its SNES counterpart but I think the bright colors and fast paced platforming action of the SNES version made for a much more fluid and fun gameplay experience compared to the seemingly more combat oriented style of the Genesis counterpart. This games color palette looks really dark and honestly for a game seemingly so centered around sword combat the hit detection looks a little wonky. BUT I grew up and enjoyed the SNES version only seeing how I never had a Sega Genesis (despite me wanting one lol) so perhaps their is some hidden bias within my speculations? I dunno...ANNNNNNNNNYWHO... What do you guys think? Genesis or Snes A-lad-DIN?

Ok so what if you're talking to people in another language, and they mispronounce english words. Do you mispronounce with them? I try to mispronounce often. But it's an error. mispronunciation is not something to be proud or anything. People do it unknowingly. Of you want to be correct in pronunciation then do it, and if anyone judges you for it, they're the pricks, not you.

"I'm done with this djinn!" actually works as a pun because "djinn" is actually a different name for Genie.

What always seemed funny to me, is Jon's tirade on pronunciation, while almost pronouncing Tehran appropriately.

Drink every time Jon: slurs words incoherently. says "legitimately" (during early episodes). breaks into song. Start chugging if Arin joins in and don't stop until they're finished. quotes something from one of Arin's cartoons. Drink every time either of them: says "real talk?" (For later episodes.) makes reference to Barry.

I think Arin's message actually had some deep underlying message that none of us understand except him and Jon

On people trying to pronounce foreign dish names in America: I work for a locally-owned "Thai" restaurant (the quotes are because of our Yelp reviews - quite a few people call us "the Chipotle of Thai food"), and I'm relatively certain at least half of our menu items have completely fabricated names. Customers occasionally come in and try to say the names of said foodstuffs in what they assume to be a "proper" pronunciation, and, as luck would have it, every single time, they come off as either incredibly pretentious, or incredibly ignorant.

I usually never like youtube vids, but this one has earned it through the middle eastern talk :)

I was walking through my local grocery store the other day and I actually found orange Fanta in glass bottles along with Coca-Cola and Sprite. =D

I lived in Cairo for two years of my life, and currently live in Qatar. Guess you can consider me one of those five.

I used to think Fanta was a purely Latin American thing because I only ever saw it in Ecuador (but Ecuador has Tropical and Fioravanti, too, so HAH!). In fact, that's why I instinctively pronounce it all Spanish-like. So, when they did that big push here in the states, I was like "Oh, they're bringing it here now?" "No, it's always been here." ... and then I found out Fanta is actually German and even my German friend was like "REALLY?"

I got stuck and powered off my Genesis at 5:40 so good job Grumps

2 years back I went on a trip across Europe to France, Germany, Estonia, Russia, Finland, Sweden, and Denmark. I was shocked. EVERY SINGLE PLACE. Only Coke and Fanta Orange. The only place that had anything different was Paris, which had some Dr. Pepper. But I felt so sad for them when I asked if there was root beer anywhere and they stared at me like I was some sort of extraterrestrial.

Listening about how Jon is half-Irany and how he's been to the Middle East blows away my face, and a portion of my torso. Hey Jon, ever been to Qatar? we got carrot cake and strawberry Fanta, they, might be good, I'm not sure, but we do have'em.

I agree with what Jon was saying. My first serious relationship was with a girl whose mother's family was from Iran. Her grandfather actually still lives there and is quite wealthy. He's a brilliant mathematician and a really nice guy. He could be judgmental, but no more so than your average old person here in the U.S. In fact, I'd say he was probably a good deal more tolerant than most older folks here. He also hated his government and has a dual-citizenship with the U.S.

I knew the day would come when Jontron would discuss soda in middle eastern countries. Video game/soda/middle-east related story: In Egypt all soda is usually referred to as "pepsi". Pepsi is so ubiquitous that one of the few video games anyone ever bothered to translate into the native language was Pepsiman for the PS1, which was pretty much Japan-exclusive. If you shamelessly pirate the game, you'll probably find it in Arabic. tl;dr: the Game Grumps could have been playing Pepsiman in Arabic

I fucking loved Fanta Shokata. Elderberry drinks in general just taste awesome. Some people say it tastes like soap, and I can kinda see where they're coming from, but it still tastes great. Also that campaign wasn't quite pre-RU-vid.

He used to idea of people's faith to control, not the lack of faith. He was known for praising the idea of an Aryan Jesus who fought the Jews. the whole "Hitler was an atheist" debate was brought about by a british historian named Alan Bullock.
