The melody is so upbeat and cheerful while the lyrics verge on being sarcastic and mean. Only Moz could write those words! Nice to hear the cheerful sounding acoustic version.

Great song, great lyrics and great acoustic rendition as usual. What a great album Your Arsenal, I loved it back in the day because besides the great songs on it it also brought back the guitar sound that was mostly gone on Kill Uncle.

Recently watched again you performing this on Jonesy's Jukebox Alain - impeccable then and the same here. Superb renditions. The video always cracked me up - particularly the bit with Spen eating the cornetto in Mozzer's ear. I recall buying 'Your Arsenal' and playing it solidly for a month. Brilliant album, although 'Southpaw Grammar' is my favourite work that you and Boz did together I think.

No he never did discuss lyrics we always found out when he went to sing in the studio and we would laugh. This song is so true of English mentality. Anyone from northern England that makes it is instantly hated from pure jealousy stand point. It was bang on. The lyrics are just so good. Morrissey at his best!!! is better than anyone on the planet.

Yea it was we were just posing tbh there wasn’t a theme. We were inside a derelict ruin of a building then we were in the East End of London I bet that building probably doesn’t exist anymore
