If Charlie didn't mess it up for Alan with his lawyer he would have been able to live a decent life, instead he lost almost all of his possessions and was stuck paying ridiculously large amount of money to Judith. When Alan married Kandi is a whole nother story.

@@senorromantico7723 Alan got a new lawyer and scrapped the agreement. Alan as finding out about the affair should have screwed the lawyer over for her illegal unprofessionalism. He was too cheap and spineless to sue her for blatant malpractice.

Well, I don't think Alan did sign it. He mentioned tearing it up and that he needs a new lawyer to help write up a new one. Presumably, he had to get a cheaper one after everything he'd already spent, so even an honest lawyer wouldn't be as talented.

Of course, the only way Laura can get away with screwing Allen like that is if Allen willingly signs the contract.

No, he still doesn't. Yes Charlie screwed things up by bedding Alan's lawyer. But it's still Alan's fault that he didn't grow a spine and sue his former lawyer. Had he successfully done that, he could've gotten a lot of money and his lawyer would be disbarred. But after a short while Alan becomes a useless leech and thinks he can do or change whatever he wants in Charlie's house, and he also starts to think that he doesn't have to follow house rules.

Alan never had a right to stay there. Charlie probably felt obligated to let Alan in his home after he screwed over Alan’s attorney. Beyond that, Alan had no right to call shots in the house, leeched off of Charlie’s finances or crawl back to Charlie once his second marriage with Kandi failed

Well - that wasn't the only reason. Did we forget Kandi? He bought her a new car, bought a condo that they couldn't afford and took a bath on when he was forced to sell, plus alimony (which he still paid through the end of the series), probably lost money on that pyramid scheme, ended up having to pay through the nose to keep his receptionist Melissa (after Charlie slept with her and dumped her), had to replace all his items when they burned up after he accidentally burned down Lindsey's house, probably ended up having a big debt that killed him when his chiropractic business went under, probably had to pay some of the damages when Jake and his friend caused Walden's servers to melt down, probably spent money he didn't have when he was hung up on Berta's pregnant daughter.....Yes Charlie paid a part, but if you don't think Alan also caused his own miserable condition you aren't considering all the bad decisions he caused. I also get the feeling that Alan was ALWAYS cheap from the very start....as he once said, "Never offer to pay for anything".

@@c1gomez19 Alan told Charlie that he scrapped the deal and started anew. The relationship between Charlie and the Lawyer had nothing to do with Alan’s divorce situation, but failed to understand and use it as leverage over her

@@MB-yk1qk Because his Lawyer legally can't do any of the shit she did. She's required as part of her job to give him the best service possible and all the crap she pulled would result in her getting sued by Alan along with disbarred. He could've easily gotten a ton of money, none of which Judith would have access to since he'd have gotten it after the Divorce and likely gotten a better divorce deal.

He is a good chiropractor. It's just that everyone surrounding him thinks his profession is a joke. But he earned a very respectable amount. It's the divorce settlement that bleeds him dry financially. To a comical degree, but many would argue there is a truth to it.

@@Hulkzilla0 The jokes indicated that he isn't a medical doctor and if you think not getting into medical school in the U.S. and needing to study at some third world country is an indication of incompetency than a bullshit field like chiropractor is a poor indication of your intelligence and ability. To have to study to be a chiropractor abroad is a huge put down. Not only does the divorce bleed him, but his practice fails. He sucks!
