@@mini696 People who are overweight do not only have more fat mass but also more fat-free mass [7]. With that, people who are overweight or obese are likely to have more muscle mass and to be stronger compared to people who are not overweight. Compared to aerobic exercises, strength exercises are easier for people who are overweight, and therefore, compliance to an exercise program focused on strength exercises is greater [8]
12:12 "testament - first strike is deadly". Instant 5% strength gains. Also: Alan's deadlift form is frigging perfect! Also: at 17:18 you can see Brian Shaw taking notes.
I love watching these videos. Watching the sandbag competition I was literally squirming in my seat trying to cheer him on 😁 for a guy that obviously does well at these competitions, Alan is still so humble and happy for the other competitors, it’s amazing to see and more people should be like this 🤙
What I notice in these vids is how fast and efficient Alan is. Obvs he is strong, but not the strongest. His speed, cardio, efficiency and intelligent strategy is what gets the win. And even if he sucked, he’s just a good dude. ❤️
JUST completed my first Strongman event up north here for Canada Day!!! Destroyed on the crane hoist, but missed out on the first place novice trophy by mere tenths of a second on the load medley, yoke. (Stones almost went into a tie-breaker until the video was reviewed. 😅) Very close competition and I couldn't have done it without your tutorials, or my signature Untamed Strength Pioneer lifting belt! ;b Thank you, Alan! Appreciate all that you do for the lifting community!
@@CoachFro NewGrounds is sponsoring a strongman lifter?? That's random, but very awesome! I have fond memories of NG forums, early memes and playing flash games on the site. Sorry for spelling your name wrong and congrats on the deadlift event win!
That was an amazing achievement! Really interesting to see how in addition to having uber capabilities at these events - being able to do pretty well across the board, you also have to think pretty strategically if you want to place. Also really cool that you interviewed some of the other athletes there! Really awesome seeing this and congrats! 👍👍
"Always bring another pair of shorts, just in case you poop yourself" - Alan Thrall I assume this advice isn't only for strongman competitions, but life advice in general?
damn Alan you're a monster, I could only dream of lifting a 113kg stone, well to be honest most likely I couldn't do any of the lifts shown here XD Go strong
That would be an interesting format for a strength event. Points for the number of reps. The 2022 shaw Classic did something similar this year with weight in the log press
If you had Pinocchio nose to go with that beard, I would believe you are a wizard with magic powers! *Instead, you are something better; an honest man that inspires us.*
