Rory, its fun to see you react to Alanis. If you have a chance, please check out her live performance of "Uninvited" from the Grammy awards. Its simply amazing and will blow you away.
As far as stage presence goes, the best comparison may be Gord Downey. Same generation and they grew up just 200 km's away from each other. Although Alanis was already in entertainment as a tween, appearing on a sketch comedy show for Canadian kids. She wrote her first song at age 10 and put out her first single, on her own label, at age 13. Signed to MCA Canada at age 17, she was originally groomed for pop stardom as Canada's own dance diva. She did a couple of albums and was released. She wrote and recorded Jagged Little Pill at age 19, but no labels would touch it, save for Maverick Records, which it released internationally a couple of years later, in 1995. The Hip didn't seem to face the same pressure to conform, but rather grew organically as a bar band. They might have stayed that way if not for Gord Downey. But Alanis is the whole package: song writer, dynamic performer, and that voice!
She's great 👍🔥 Cracks me up how each new artist becomes your absolute *favorite* 😄 -- band, male and female artists alike 😄 Race is on to see who you fall in love with next, you fickle thing 😄
Alanis is fantastic not the doctor & right through you are two of my favourites of hers also uninvited is brilliant. she is just awesome!! RIP Taylor so sad
Alanis is an incredible singer, sooo unique!! Hopefully Todd requested "Ironic" Isn't Ironic Im sure you are goung to know that song too Rory!! Awesome reaction Rory, thats Taylor Hawkins on the drums recently played for Foo Fighters that died last year RIP Taylor. Thank You Todd for requesting this awesome track. 😊🩷🔥🤟✌️
After watching Rory's first reaction, I decided that he needed to hear eight tracks rather than the first six I provided. The last two I added were Ironic and Head Over Feet. I also referred him to a Rolling Stone interview in which she talks about everybody and their brother criticizing her for using a bunch of examples in Ironic that weren't ironic.
Uhm, kerling? Kurling? The method that Delores O'Riordan use to sing... I'm mean, I'm no expert, but that's what I get. Oh, and what was the movie that Alanis played God in? That was a good one!
