Make sure all of your doors open to the outside and are extra fortified and your windows need heavy duty shutters or metal grills over them also outward opening in case you need a hasty escape. He was marking his territory which means YOU are in HIS zone. Live stock and pets are in eminent danger.
We have encountered dozens of bears around our cabin. We live on a large lake with spawning salmon. The bears congregate in August and September to feast on the dead salmon and abundant berries. We are careful around them. They are quick to depart when they see us. We would never shoot a bear just for walking by our cabin.
Yeah, because it was his turf his territory he lived there for all of his life and his ancestors lived there for a millennia and then someone comes and puts a house where he and his ancestors graze all throughout millenia it's his or her land we have to learn to go cohabitate not destroy!
I bet your name is of scandinavian or germanic heritage and you already know that, but Angstman(n) means Scary/ Scared Man in german. Damn i couldnt relax anymore if bears that size would feel comfortable in my garden.
I found a canned air horn that is used on boats work well for sending critters away. As good as bear mace, but safer. I have even sent skunks away. And big cats HATE them. When hiking I carry both canned air horn and bear mace. Can never be too safe.
Noise doen't scare a bear. They don't connect a shot noise with pain Unless they've been shot. Sort of like telling a young kid not to touch the stove, it's hot. Just words Until they touch the hot stove, then those words have meaning ...
I'm no expert and appreciate bears and the live let live approach. But from what I've read from the experts you had an opportunity to send a message to that bear that he/she must be afraid and stay clear of your cabin or get a buck shot to the rear. As of now you and anyone visiting you is in danger. I wouldn't want to walk outside after cooking breakfast.
I would love to see this beautiful bear outside my cabin I’m in the U.K. so no chance of that, I would have reinforced windows the strongest possible bullet proof glass, and a big reinforced door totally bear proof home, my dream is to live in a log cabin but it would be over the top secure, I really enjoyed this video thank you
Wonder if Myron is still with us? I live in Colorado and rented a cabin up in the mountains, the owner showed me around and I asked him why did he have a large piece of boarding with nails sticking up from it in front of the door and why are there bottles hanging outside by all windows? Answers: The bottles smack against the windows when it's windy...hopefully will scare the bears away and the nailed boarding is because one time a bear went through the door to get to food...er, nope, never did stay there. But I digress, where is Myron??
You should make some bear boards. Big nails through some plywood. It stops them instantly! Lay it down on all of your access points. Also , keep canisters of bear spray at key locations around your yard. Some very loud m80 firecrackers too. And your rifle. They also make very inexpensive electric fences for campers. And some type of perimeter alert system. Good luck to you.
He rolling and shit, it's like a clone to them they love it but anyway he happy he's a happy bear cuz if he wasn't happy bear you'd have a lot of trouble on your hands beautiful bear too beautiful.
A bear this close to the house is a hazard.....12 gauge rubber bullets to the butt will keep bears at a healthy distance.Bears should learn humans=pain......
Looks like he is stalking you, the bear wants to come closer but is to afraid. Can tell by behavior and jaw snapping. Cool but scary as hell with out a gun. Cool video ✌️👍
I didnt see or hear any jaw snapping? I'm going to go back and play it again. I sure as all hell would not be lackadaisical about the whole incident, thus why I dont live in Grizzlyville.
Door wouldn't stop that grizzly if it wanted in. I would be worried every time I stepped out of the house thinking a grizzly might be just around the corner!! Beautiful animal, good video, Thanks.
Beautiful animal. Bears like to rol around in something smelly. Great that you did not take up a rifle. When you are in bear country, you are the guest. Thanks for respecting that! And also tthanks to the bear who kept his- or her distance from you.
Not to include the well-intended, unsolicited advice but people can be such ignorant pukes these days with their comments. (I have been guilty myself) Lol. I am sure you know what you are doing or you wouldn't be up there. I would like to say...THANK YOU for sharing the video and I really enjoyed it. Its great footage and I appreciate the upload. Never have seen them roll around before so that was great. Thanks again.
Yes I agree a noise maker or a light load of bird shot. Many years ago my guide in bear country would use light loads of bird if His dogs couldn't keep them away. I love watching them. I have had them following us on trails while noise hunting.
I hope he doesn't smell bacon frying one morning, because he'd probably just mosey right through your house door like he was invited. *eak* I agree that the doors AND windows don't look strong enough. Admire your cool head though, Sir!
You sir, are not very friendly. You have a bear who clearly wants to be friends with you and you didn't even go outside and shake his hand. He will remember that so you should watch your back when you go outside. But other than your antisocial behavior I absolutely enjoyed your video!
@@wendymiller3364 It's actually a two way street. While the bear is rolling in a scent, it is also leaving it's own scent...the bear is mainly claiming this territory.
He was marking your territory as his. If you haven't done anything about this bear til now, I am guessing you have already had your fill of his presence. Could be a female too. In which case she is trying to get the scent of the male who urinated on your yard and marked it as his while you were sleeping. You could have opened the window a crack and started telling him in a calm voice to take off, and there was nothing that concerned him there. He/she smelled food.
The bear is a male. Notice his parts when he rolls over. I wouldn't have challenged him in any way without my .338 at hand. A door or window won't stop a bear from coming in. keep your food smells down with him in the area!
yes/of course..tell him in a calm voice to take off/ther's nothing that concerns him there..SOO WHERE'D THE BEAR LEARN ENGLISH??GET A CLUE//BEARS/MNT. CATS/ GET NERVOUS WHEN DOGS START BARKING//WHAT DO THEY DO? THEY... RUN UP A TREE.....AN U WANT TO TELL HIM TO PLEASE LEAVE. REALLY??
That was awesome! That bear was absolutely beautiful! His long snout and his coat and frame was a pretty nice specimen! To think people want to end his life for a trophy is just terrible. Yes he's marking his territory! It's his home, all of it!
He must like your area because he is making himself very comfortable... and putting his scent all over... spray him with some bear spray and see if he leaves .. I hope you called the Mounty's.... Good luck
I would say he left his scent on that ground to let other bears know that the piece of meat in the house belonged to him. That man needs to reconsider living there if he hasn’t the courage to chase them off. When the bear is hungry, it will remember the spot he marked. Outhouse may have attracted him but the guy must cook as well. A couple big dogs are a security team for noise and distraction. Night time is the time to worry.
Why live in the woods if you want to shoot all the residents? Just a small grizzly folks. I lived full time with 3 in my meadow every year, and a mama moose and her calf each year. We all got along. Just keep a clean camp and I would keep the shed door closed and latched.
@@Dstew57A Yea, another keyboard wise man. I too have spent time deep in the woods, animals don't all pass at the same time. Most have large areas they cover with some seasonal favorite places. Maybe sailboat guy has residual anger left over from childhood.
@SoloSail Boat Turn off the TV and go outside for awhile. It's a big world and animals understand this, that's why they try to visit at different times. They have highly developed senses and escape tactics. Some moose do get taken and many don't. You have no way of knowing based on some TV special.
thats when you call your mother in law and ask her if she would like to come grill some steaks on the porch...while you sit inside and lock the doors...
Me again ,seems like the bear has lost it's fear of humans,I'd be worried it'd be back sometime ,Hungary and on a Mission, That door doesn't look bear proof .Even a few stones in a plastic container shaken can scare the tar out of an animal. Me I'd love to have a Cabin in the woods like that for sure ,Lucky person ,But stay alive ,be proactive :-)
Yes very deceiving but don't look in to its eyes for it will look strait through you .Meaning it is intelligent in the wild only and has no Conscience what so ever.
Noticed his breathing got more shallow and rapid as the bearcat closer, but you might be right. Having a grizzly bear that close to your house Is pretty stimulating!
Poor guy was hyperventilating.. You would've been too, gun or no gun. Could've gone bad. Young grizzlies are very unpredictable. I'd be extremely cautious being outside there esp at night.
Labored breathing is another reason that man should consider his safety. These animals can hear your hair grow. Hearing the panting of distress would be a cue to a weakened state for a predatory carnivore. Hope this man is okay!! We need an update.
This situation could've gone either way & this guy knows this. I have three brothers in Alaska that hunt & fish. We were fishing on a river & was told by a guy that two young grizzlies were in the area. This guy said young grizz will bat you around for awhile before killing you. Two are more apt to be aggressive. That guys breathing went back to normal when the bear walked away. That bear could've gotten in that house . The guy probably didn't have a gun, which can make a bear mad though too. He needs to keep the bear away from his house.
