"carl, there I was taking a shit in the snow and this crazy elk came running up the hill. It was screaming the entire way. It didnt have any legs carl, none!"
Reminds me of last winter, flying very low and slow down a remote canyon, flew past two giant wolves, eyeball to eyeball as they were on the same level as me. They were NOT spooked even a little by the plane, THEY were in control of the situation, for the first time that day I had to wonder, "what happens if the engine quit?" In your case, I hope you had another way back.
Bear--- "If I stand right here it will scare him enough to swerve into that tree and then I won't have to do any running.....damn.....one more foot to the right next time"
I can't begin to list the number of ways that bear was confused.. 1.) Out of den way to early, 2.) Looking for food "above" tree-line 3.) eat ?or run & hide? or like me sometimes.. wake up eat and go the fk back to bed.. lol
I did this once, but I was chased by soldiers on snowmobiles but I had a gun so I could shoot some of them, then I did this sweet-ass jump off a cliff to another where a chopper was waiting for me...might’ve been Mw2 when I think about it..
That is a Blackie without a doubt. Notice at :55 , the back profile, no hump, Grizz have a distinctive shoulder hump, and :59 , the ears are large in proportion to the head. It is a common misconception that bears hibernate. The do go into a state of deep sleep (turpor) and typically sleep through the coldest part of the winter. It is not unusual for bears to leave their dens for brief periods in early or late winter, or even sometime during the middle of winter if you have an extended period of unseasonably warm weather. I live in bear country and snowshoe and XC ski quite a bit and often cross their tracks in the snow and have come across them out and about a few times in the winter and many, many times in the other half of the year.
Its a bit funny reading all the "experts" in the comment section saying what animal that was. This was a blurry video and a bit hard to tell so i would have to go with what the guy riding the snowmobile said it was. Clearly he had a better view then we got.
HOLY SHIT is right!!! Would never have expected him to be up there but I've talked to old timers around here who used to pack a 12guage while spring sledding!
"Big Ben 🐻 was coming out of its den enjoying the bright sun once again...for you two young men, dont venture too close within..We want you home safe & not lookin for next of kin!" 👪
Any close proximity to a grizzly out in the wild is terrifying. “Good momma grizzly bear...now that we are up close and personal, you and your cubs look soooo cute!”
That was a grizzly. Hump is visible. Mountain lions or cougars have much smaller heads. All bears do not hibernate straight through the winter. Occasionally they venture out for a snack.
cool vid....nice ride to the top...well done. Looked like a young bear..big ears...* thats how you tell the size....little ears ='s BIG bear 1FM Lake George, NY
