@@IoannisGats Age with the injuries got to him. Like almost everyone else. Glad the Cardinals didn’t sign him. But if he would have stayed with the Cards he probably ends up being the best Redbird of all time. Now he is just on the short list behind a few others.
@@IoannisGats he did deserve that money he earned it not like bonds no roids pure human abilities he work he ass off I know i watched every game from 1st til present he was a born to be a hofer I knew in 2000 he had short stebt on bench util Mcguire got hurt then 2001 rest is is history so yeah he deserve every penny
And it just kept going. He kept hitting postseason home runs against Hall of Fame top shelf pitching.... Justin Verlander was another notch in his belt. I believe he also got one off Clayton Kershaw.
Even though I’m a lifelong Dodger fan, this guy is the reason I love the game of Baseball, and seeing him get a victory lap back in St. Louis to try to pass A-Rod and maybe get 700 is a very beautiful thing 🙏
Uhh he's gonna suck tbh as a lifelong Cardinals fan. Total cash grab by ownership. He's been legitimately bad since 2016. Basically everyone on the roster is a better option at DH.
@@Fuccoffbud needlessly rooting for him to kill every rally with a double play ground out doesn't seem like it's worth the send off. He's a shell and a downright bad baseball player in every single facet at this point.
@@peterwilson4865 who pissed in your cereal? It’s only one year buddy, and you of all people shouldn’t be shitting on a legend who helped you get two rings. Unless you’re trying to sound like an ungrateful little kid
@@kevinjones1942 You're wrong in multiple ways! 1. The final clip in the video is a Pujols HR as an Angel. 2. That HR was the only playoff HR he hit as an Angel, so the video couldn't have "easily been an hour."
@@esportshighlights2457 One post-season HR in an Angels uniform. You don't think this highlight reel would have easily been an hour long had he been on a contender for the last decade? Like a team that played more than one series in a whole decade.
This 45 minute video demonstrates two things. How great Pujols is. And the advantages of playing for a very good franchise like the Cardinals was... New contract... PS HR... 10 years later. Back to STL
My dad was at the Lidge game. One out away from the city's first World Series. In 1/100th of a second it went from the loudest building on earth to the quietest. So ghoulishly quiet allegedly people in the front 5 rows could hear Alberts cleats jogging in the infield clay it was that dead silent.
Unlike Barry bonds, Albert pujols was a superstar all the time, not just in the regular season. Barry didn't turn it on till his last postseason or two, and he needed steroids to do that. That's why I respect Albert above all the other goats in our era
Scott Rolen and Jim Edmonds were major reasons why Pujols got so many pitches to hit. They were truly the MV3 of the Cardinals during their mid-2000's run.
But Rolen was starting to break down in 04 and 06, especially 06 when he was infamously benched in game 2 against the Mets and led to the rift between Rolen and LaRussa that never healed.
This guy was born to hit ,I don't think it's gonna matter with that eye hand coordination and that swing. McGwire and LaRussa knew pretty quickly ,and once he was called up he never went back down, the great of the greats it always sounds a little different and looks a little different the first game I saw him play Televised i saw it, I was like "where in the hell did they find this dude?? Look at that swing and patience and he's a damn rookie? If you watched alot of ball it was noticeable he was different
It gives me goosebumps every time I watch The Machine bat in his final year. I find myself standing in my own living room in front of the TV watching him hit - it's crazy. Thanks for all the memories, Albert.
The fact he has almost 50 minutes of Postseason home runs is telling of how damn good his career has been. It's been a joy seeing him dominate left handed pitching in 2022 and try to get 700.
I will always remember the 3 homerun World Series game… I was in a parking lot and it was playing on a projector and no one was paying attention to the craft fair or whatever was going on at the highschool
It was fun to watch this. He is pretty hot right now and I hope he gets to 700, but that's not what he's about. I'm sorry to see this vid end with the World Series in 2011, and no more, but I then remembered that he went to play for the Angels. People say that they wasted Mike Trout and they are wasting Shohei Ohtani, but they forget that they wasted Albert's time too when he was there.
18:00 - Loved Thom Brenaman's call here 0-1 to Pujols...In the air....left field! And Pujols has given St. Louis the lead! A dramatic, towering, three-run home run! Stunned in disbelief here in Houston!
The 3 HRs against the Rangers was one of my best baseball experiences. My son and I were sitting in a. bar in LA with our Cardinals hats on with about 30 Rangers fans. When Albert came up with 2 men on and the score 8-6 they all said, "Walk him". They said the same thing before his 2nd and 3rd homers, then left the bar.
Maybe the only one! This tank stunk it up for 8 of his 10 year 250 MILLION contract with us. How many rallies did he kill by either hitting into DP's or grounding out due to his plodding "running"....dude's as done as last nights cold pizza
@@kendallevans4079 looking back it was terrible fit for him. The angels main issue was the pitching which was terrible 9-10 years he played there the only exception 2014.
@@kendallevans4079 Yeah, Opening Day was pretty rough. He scorched the ball but went 0-5. He did get on base twice on Pirates errors, but was immediately erased on a fielder's choice both times. At least he's platooning with Dickerson.
Ya know its hard to summarize just how DOMINANT Pujols has been for his career, but having NEARLY AN HOUR OF POST SEASON DINGERS is a pretty good starting point
@@Jacobthekid28 I'm saying having Pujols in his prime worked out for the Cardinals, and their "way" stopped working after he left, if we're talking about WS titles. I wouldn't say the Angels had Pujols in his prime.
@@Jacobthekid28 I'm not talking about Trout, though. Nor the Angels. I'm talking about Albert Pujols in his prime. You may want to double check the thread... your response is a bit straw man-y.
@@BJuice-he3ox Yeah and I'm saying that the Cardinals were better off without him after 2011. There isn't much we could have done to replace him. You also have to remember that the 2013 team was the best Cardinals team in recent history when it comes to run differential and they obviously didn't have Pujols in the lineup.
Can Pujols pass Ruth for regular season and postseason combined homeruns? Ruth has 729, Pujols 719. Pujols has 10 regular season games left, and if the cardinals go deep in the postseason could have 12-17 postseason games. So 22-27 games to do it.
Pujols only had 1 homerun for the Angels in the playoffs the entire time he was there? Is that correct? If it is I bet ol Arte Moreno is kicking himself. Paid the dude for 10/$240 mil for 1 playoff homerun. Sheeesh
That was the only time the Angels made the postseason since signing Pujols before the 2012 season. Pujols broke down physically and the Angels never had good pitching. Mike Trout could only do so much, similar to Jordan w/o Pippen, etc., but those Bulls teams at least made the playoffs.
I mean it’s a cool video title but he only has 19 playoff home runs it’s not crazy or anything. Though he did have 3 in ONE WORLD SERIES GAME, and he was already on the decline at that point tbh.
The video would have been twice as long if he would have stayed with the Cardinals the whole time. The Angels only made the playoffs once while he was there.
@@ThankYouBroSports Yes I've been watching and Goldie still swings at pitches low and away. He does it so often I worry for the Cardinals in the dugout.
