Prune was definitely influential. Even up to a few years ago you could find his music for not a lot of money. That has changed recently. Nice tribute to him. He was a good with his lyrics.

You've got gold there too Brett in that wonderful collection of John's music. Don't ever part with them. There were so many great albums that you could've included but your love of the music and the man really shines through. I usually go for the first album with that lovely cover and those beautiful songs that started it all. The double anthology is a marvellous primer for new listeners, and Fair and Square is another great start point. John Prine was one of the great American writers - period. Thanks for your very touching appreciation.

Great Days was actually my introduction :) I've spent untold hours with it, especially Disc 1. it took me awhile to get into the production from 1980 onward but once I did, I came to love those songs almost as much. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement!

I think it's neat that Prine and Monk are 10/10 babies. I am in favour of your list, especially German Afternoons which is one of favourites. Bruised Orange is an absolute masterpiece on par with his debut and Sweet Revenge in my opinion. My favourite Prine hidden gem is his album with Mac Wiseman, a record of covers that just makes me so happy every time I listen to it. I am so looking forward to cracking my Other End. After your effusive praise, it will be a real treat I'm sure of it. And man, I am going to miss your man cave. It always seemed so homey to me.

You're gonna miss it, think how I feel? *lol* It's like I said, I whittled it down to seven. Others could easily have been on there or made into honorable mention status. I only got the duet with Mac a couple years ago, I was sad I missed out on it for so long. With a catalog as deep as Prine's, there are bound to be items we all miss for awhile.

@@brettsmusicreviews2641 Oh, believe me, my heart goes out to you in a huge way. When I got divorced seven years ago, I not only lost the house I built in the woods, but the workshop I built especially to listen to music while I did my carving. BUT...I wound up landing in a better spot AND with no one to answer to about how loud or how much I listen. I don't have nearly the Prine collection you do, so I have much discovery to do. I always appreciate your recommendations as they help steer my decisions as to what to watch out for next.

@@roblabelle7874 Oh, man, I didn't know all that about your ordeal :( I was lucky in that April never really complained about volume, even the nights when I had friends over and we cranked J Geils, Motorhead, or whatever. It was actually a bit of a running joke. It's a great mutual thing where we can provide suggestions for each other. There's so much great music that even for those of us with large collections and wide-ranging musical taste, it can be overwhelming on what to look for next!
