While everyone else is already releasing their year-end lists, we at the Social Tune prefer to be fashionably late. Also, I promised to review Marianas Trench's entire discography, so here we go with Ever After!

Surprised you didn't mention how the album is essentially 1 song with the great transitions in between each of the songs. I think it was one of the reasons this album stood out to me so much the first time I heard it. Otherwise great review! Always love to see this band get some well-deserved attention!

That's fair enough, I suppose it's one of those details that got lost in the shuffle. Like I said, it's an excellent album from a band who's way more intricate than many newcomers expect.

So soon reminds me of Somebody else by The 1975 because of the subject matter even though they don't sound alike. And that's definitely a compliment, they're both awesome. Josh and Matthew are hurt because people they used to love have moved on so soon, but they acknowlege that they should get over that person. It's a beliveable situation and they manage to pull it off WITHOUT sounding like whiny assholes (cough Charlie Puth cough)

Essentially, So Soon is the INFINITELY better version of Someone you Loved by Lewis Capaldi.

Idk, if I had to pick a song that So Soon was the infinitely better version of, I would choose Amnesia by 5SOS

I love how so many critics decide to drop their worst songs list as soon as December hits, while others prefer to play the waiting game. I think I've seen like 5 already.

Miles Washcalus People either drop their year end lists in late november/ early december or they pull a Todd in the shadows and upload them closer to february. It's like two waves of year end lists

My reason is a bit different. I always base my lists on Billboard's list of the top 100 songs of the year. 2017's list just hasn't been released yet.

Well at least you won't be making a mistake that Cicabeot1 did with last year's list by relying more on Pulse Music Board's predictions over the actually list. (Yes that #10 last year was pretty epic failure worthy) And thanks :)

I listened to it dozens of times without ever paying attention to the 'fairy tale' story and treating it just as a love/break-up story, and honestly, I prefer it that way. It is far more poignant as a story of the messy, contradictory emotions of untangling your heart from someone else.

This right here. The reason this is my least favourite of the four main MT albums is because their attempt to cross the fairytale story with the romance story comes off as rather clunky at parts - I wish they had just completely gotten rid of the concept and just kept it as a relationship story like their other albums. It's still a great record and the title track is in my top fav MT songs, but it just doesn't compare to the strength and emotional depth of Masterpiece Theatre and Astoria

This one is a 7.5/10 for me. I think its probably the worst of their four main records, but it's still got some really solid songs. Favourites: Ever After, So Soon, Desperate Measures, Haven't Had Enough, Porcelain, Toy Soldiers, Stutter Least Favourites: Fallout, Truth or Dare, No Place Like Home
