Album Review - Masterpiece Theatre by Marianas Trench (My Favourite Album)

I listened to this album today and OH MY GOD I'M IN LOVE. I haven't really taken a closer look at the lyrics yet, but based on surface listens, my favourite songs right now are probably Good to you and All to myself. This is kind of surprising because I can be very critical towards love songs a lot of times. I don't know why I haven't listened to Marianas Trench before, but I'll definitely check out the rest of their discography. I'll probably be an obsessed fangirl within a week. My personal favourite album is Blurryface by Twenty one pilots (I know, I'm basic as hell). TØP is my favourite band but this is definitely their best album, mostly because the production was better. Their previous albums sound great too, but this one had a bigger budget and there was a lot more going on when it came to the sound. It was also a lot more versatile than their other releases. The songs sounded a lot more different from each other, but you could still tell that they were from the same album. Tyler's performance was great as usual, especially his rapping. The lyrics were INCREDIBLE most of the time and I loved the fourth wall breaking which was a recurring theme.

This was the album that changed my life when I was 12 - really actually got me into music in general. I agree with everything you said and it's so nice to see someone else who appreciates the band the way I do! I've seen them live 4 times over the past 5 years and I'm planning on seeing them again when I can

I don't expect to decide on a favorite album anytime soon, myself, although this and Astoria are both up there. As for Kate Voegele, she's a solid singer-songwriter in her own right, although I'm not terribly objective on her, since she was one of the first acts I got into when I started listening to a lot of music, I can still recommend Don't Look Away as a very solid pop-rock album.

How popular is Marianas Trench in Ireland? I've always thought they're one of these bands that is really popular in Canada but not known well outside (we have many such bands lol). I ageee with you that they're great, extremely underrated imho

This one has grown on me a ton. I don't think its their best album, but it's still such a ridiculous improvement over Fix Me that's it's almost uncanny. Fantastic record. Favourites: Masterpiece Theatre III, All To Myself, Good To You, Cross My Heart, Masterpiece Theatre I, Celebrity Status, Lover Dearest Least Favourites: Beside You

For me, it's Skeleton Tree by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. That album just gets me to the core.
