The picture itself is so great that the cover never bothered me. I dig the cover. As for the back cover, this was not backstage but instead was ON stage and performing “Please, Please, Please” and this is a moment during his collapse routine when he has to be taken off with a cape.
@@MrCarltonjsmith Hi, Carlton! 👋 This post is absolutely superb! Thank you so much for providing me with this information as regards the back cover photograph 🙏 I have always loved the story it tells, and the way in which it catches Mr Brown in a candid moment, so to now know the actual detail is brilliant. I am going to pin your comment so other viewers of the video can see what you have explained. Thank you so much once again and best wishes, Christian
Thanks Chris. Great review made me smile. Saw James Brown at V99 best live performer I've seen. The way you described the crowd on the album took me back to seeing him perform.
I’m so pleased my review made you happy, Elaine - just what I was hoping for. I was at V99 too, but it would either have been the Manics or Suede I chose to watch instead of Mr Brown. Was it the Saturday or Sunday he performed? I’m so happy my description of his performance in 1962 took you to a place in your heart and mind where you had the pleasure of watching the Godfather of Soul live 37 years later 😊
Thanks. Christian for great review of this classic and Elaine for having such good taste and good sense to make the request Flawless performance by Mr Brown and his band and you sum it all up perfectly I do agree this cover is terrible and I have the original cover 1963 saw several great live albums : Recorded Live : 12 Year Old Genius : Stevie Wonder Live at Carnegie Hall : Nina Simone ( April ) We Shall Overcome : Pete Seeger ( again Carnegie Hall ; June ) Live at Carnegie Hall : Dave Brubeck ( February ) None of them match up to Mr Dynamo thats how good he was. I never saw James Brown live on stage but i bumped in to him in lobby of Plaza hotel one Christmas ( real Home Alone 2 stuff ) I did go to some Maceo Parker shows , that was one tight outfit ! I have a Chuck D cd called Tribb to JB its well worth checking out Once last comment for now is about when he passed and they brought his remains to the Apollo to lie in state . You cant understand the devotion the people had for him . He fittingly finished where he started and Al Sharpton’s eulogy is on the Chuck D album Amazing , amazing , amazing and you are right Best Live Album ever
What a lovely post this is, Jesse 😊 Always great to hear from you and many thanks indeed for not only sharing some very kind comments as regards my video, but also for sharing some wonderful James Brown-related memories and information. I was especially moved by your bumping into him at the Plaza Hotel (what a story!) and the fact he lay in state at the Apollo. I never knew that, but that was a perfectly fitting thing to have done to honour Mr Brown. Thank you also for sharing some brilliant live albums from 1963 🙏 Your ongoing support for this channel is hugely appreciated, so I want you to know it’s great having you here. Best wishes, Christian
Thanks Christian Glad to be along for the ride Oct 62 , James Brown performed this concert in NYC Oct 62 : Love me Do released as first single by an up and coming band from Liverpool There was something in the air !
@@MrCarltonjsmith Thank you so much, Carlton! That’s very kind of you to say and I’m so pleased to read you enjoyed the review 😊 Thank you for watching and commenting, and sending best wishes, Christian
