@@cplkamikaze8594 I never understood how we could have came up with so many different genres and names. I always liked bands for what they are, for songs they made and then move on to the next band I encounter by chance/fate or as you may know it, RU-vid Recomendations.
6:15 is the most graceful use of blast beats I've ever heard. Never thought I'd use that adjective for blast beats, but shows what good songwriting and arranging can achieve.
They MUST be French, only French bands sound like this =) Listening to this is like eating rich, dark chocolate, it melts on your (taste) buds and leaves a bittersweet sensation... Wonderful!
Even though I don't understand a word of French, the music alone is so powerful and mesmerizing. I'm getting this album in the mail next week and it will be a great day when it arrives. Brilliant songwriting. This is why I love Metal, you don't need to understand the lyrics to completely fall in love with the music. Pure magic.
Makers of the worlds Your ageless eyes Are penetrating mirrors, Shaping and beautifying the world By their reflection. The edge of the woods, far away Becomes a moving temple, iridescent, Celebrating the birth of spring. And these immense mountains, Wanting to join the heavens, Whirling Above out heads. This reality around us, Is the one you have chosen And your dreams cover our sphere With an ideal painting, Unfolding in the light of your eyes, At the sound of your voice.

I needed to listen to this song several times to realize that it's a good piece of music. The melodies and the album cover are beautiful and and dreamy, I love it.
L'un des rares groupe francais de metal réellement innovant, créatif et qui propose de la qualité. Le riff de base avec la batterrie et la voix sont la plus belle partie de la chanson pour moi. Merci beaucoup.
Metalfest 2011 Pilsen, Alcest, the only band there that I felt like that is the exatly the metal music I have a special place for. They played there as one of the first bands that day, it was around noon, sun was high, we lay in the grass at the top of the amfiteatr and they were one of the very few bands there I knew I like from the very start. From that day I remember this wonderful band. There was not a huge crowd, as the louder bands in the evening had, regardless, I told myself that for me, the best band of the whole metalfest was them.
Holy balls. The guitar and drumming at the end of the song ... are insane. Tremolo picking mixed with really fast drumming is wonderful. It's not obnoxious and mixes well, creating an atmospheric sound while still making me think "Hooooly craaap, heck yeeeaaah."
I was in doubt whether or not Alcest was making black metal. The doubt has gone now... And btw: I really couldn't care whether something does or doesn't fit in the box of one or another genre! Often what dares to cross borders is most worth listening to.
